Of course, I still enjoy looking at the Ferrari on the street the same way as before I owned one... Waving? may be I need to make sure I know the driver before waving.

Maybe I was wrong in saying jeeps are the original wavers but definitely very strong in the brotherhood of wave. Lets see if I can post a pic of my jeep. here goes.

My family used to tour the country every summer with an Airstream trailer behind the station wagon. It was almost law to flash the lights when seeing another Airstream.
Everyone and their monkey seems to have a Porsche now. It used to be commonplace to flash the lights in them as well. I think that has gone away.

Jeep guys have been waving to one another for ages. Guess it has to do with that freedom to go anywhere image. As the offroad areas here where closed down, the new Jeep owners seem more likely to just ignore you.
In my Boxer I’ll wave, acknowledge, anyone that seems interested, but the only Ferrari I’ve seen lately was last week, a red 348ts, that shot past me on the freeway, but unfortunately at the time I was driving a U-Haul truck!

I always try to acknowledge another f-car (even when I'm so damn jealous because it is so much hotter than my car). But I kind of try not to even make eye contact with others at stop lights.

Last week I was at a stop light next to a clossic Studebaker- guy glared at me, so I gave him a "thumbs up" as his car was clean and sounded nice. I guess he thought I gave him the finger, as he got out of his car, falling-over drunk, and started coming at me saying something about how his car would beat mine, as he was getting ready to grab car. Luckily light turned green and I was in left turn lane- I was gone!

There are some crazy mo-fos out here, and I'm much more careful who and how I acknowledge someone :)

All Ferrari drivers should acknowledge other Ferrari drivers...

But there are plenty of stuck-up Ferrari drivers who could care less about being courteous and who think that their newer Ferrari puts them in a position of superiority over someone who has an older Ferrari.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen or passed by 360s Modena or 550s Maranello and been given the cold shoulder.

I suspect that most, if not all, of these kind of Ferrari drivers are not members of F-Chat!

Those are the real Small Penis guys that give us a bad name. If I'm in the Slutmobile or the F40 I'll wave at a Fiat Dino, I waive at Vettes & Porsches sometimes too

Back in the "old days", it was pretty rare to come across an MG, Triumph, Porsche, Ferrari, etc and any owner was a real enthusiast. Today a lot of these cars have disappeared and the main high-volume mfr is Porsche and Ferrari isn't too far behind with their high-volume V-8's. A lot of these owners aren't really enthusiasts, they're just checking off another item on the "things to show I've made it" list.

I suspect that many of the owners don't even know what's going on when any headlight-flashing/horn-beeping is done at them, instead they check their high-beams (if they notice at all since there are a lot more cars with daytime running lights these days) or think they just did something wrong. Hand-waving isn't easy to see either unless it's a convertible or you're really close. I knew about 5 986/996 owners at my old company and at least 3 of them fell into the first time owner, non-enthusiast category who wouldn't have a clue what's going on. The real enthusiasts owned the two 80's 911's and one 356.

    Two stories regarding this subject.

One day last spring I was out driving the 360spider and in a roundabout a 360spider (grigio alloy I believe) met me on the other side of the roundabout (it was a small roundabout) and used to waving as i was, I waved ofcourse. Well it was Mika Salo (remeber former F1 driver) driving the 360. He just waved back like total normal behaviour. :) And then we continued our own ways.

Then later this summer I was again out driving, during the F1 summer brake, and drove past Kimi Räikkönen. He was just climbing in to his Gallardo, and as I passed I waved, and he ofcourse waved back, again like total normal behaviour. :) And then we continued our own ways.

Both cases proves in my oppinnion tha a car nut is always a car nut, and acknowledge eachother. I have later thought about theese moments, and they are kind of surreal actually, but it always puts a smile on my face.

Btw. I usually acknowledge by lifting my fingers, but keeping my palm on the wheel. Subtle but noticeable (and safe). And yes i acknowledge old/new cheap/expensive enthusiastcar drivers.

The Italian horn is one of my favorite parts of an Italian car.
It's always funny when someone hears it for the first time, especially on a Ferrari. It's rarely what they were expecting and their facial expression is always priceless.

This is an interesting question that I had not thought of. In all the years I have owned an Fcar I have never been in mine and saw another one. Of course living in Montana probably has something to do with that. Now I'm feeling left out and lonely. LOL

good point Erich, I do too. I ride Harleys and always wave (no, not the middle finger) at other cyclists. I know some Harley riders who don't, their loss.

I can't recall any other f car driver waving at me. My Fiat actually gets more attention anyway. I think people see it like a cute puppy or something. Many people seemed to have owned one at one time or knew someone who did. They can't believe they are seeing one not only still running, but looking almost new.

I can very easily go 6 months without seeing another Ferrari here in the midwest (except for the one in my garage). I have never seen another one when driving mine. If I ever do I definately will wave.
