try asking your dealer if you havent already. if u have, then go to the link up there by velostrada and sponsors to ferrariads.com. search for one there and if all else fails look on ebay but be very picky.

It's about a 2 hour install. Make sure that you have all the right tools BEFORE you start.

The grill will make the back of your car covered with brake dust (per my mechanic) so be prepared if you have black car like me bad idea....

With 24k on the clock, I can't say I've noticed this. I don't see how brake dust could get to the back of the car because of the grill... the wheel wells are completely enclosed. Anyone had this problem?

Mike (or anyone else who might be interested),

I have a used original challege grill from my 355 Challenge car. It has some small dings and imperfections, but nothing a good body shop shouldn't be able to take care of and paint with a few of hours of labor. I've been keeping it just in case I ever need the part. Installation is simple and should take an hour or two. The cost for a new original grill was quoted to me at $1,707 last winter. 355 parts prices, particularly for challenge cars, have been going through the roof.

I'd be willing to part with the used grill for $500 plus actual shipping cost.

If you're interested, eMail me at [email protected] and I'll send pictures.

Actually, one of our site sponsors lists the 355 Challenge Grill for $1150 brand new. I recall Russell as saying he would even discount that price a bit as well (this was a few months ago, though).

It's not the grill... it's the shipping! The boxes for those grills are very large and cannot go via normal ground transport because of girth. They need to be carried by a freight line (FedEx Freight, Yellow, etc.)

Mine includes free shipping, but you're right -- they're still expensive. You need to use your old horse, BTW. The part number you're looking for is 65511400

There are two different Challenge grilles. One is perforated Steel, for street cars, and the other is perforated aluminum. The aluminum is considered the race car version and sells for more. Make sure you are aware of the cost differences when purchasing a used item.

as for the brake dust, i cant see it happening. because the grille will let air pass through it. air passing through would seemingly be of some sort of high pressure as it is comming from the engine bay which is pumped full of air at speed. the higher pressure air passing into the normal low pressure bubble would lead one to believe that the low pressure bubble would be reduced, therefore reducing contaminants on the rear of the car. (look at SUVs and big-rigs especially as their low pressure area is very big and will attract tons of dirt, as a proof to the above statement)

although the air comming from the engne bay would be extremely hot, hot air = higher pressure via PV = nRT --> P = (nRT) / V when [T-> very large] the numerator becomes larger with constant denometer, therefore pressure must go up, or you would be inclined to think so. (although this is an ideal gas law, but close enough for union work)

interestingly enough this addition of high pressure to the parasitic low pressure bubble would decrease pressure drag on the car.......im sure thats why they did that, besides cooling down the engine of course ;)
