i think the media is partly feeding the hysteria. SA seems pretty calm so far where i have seen. There are spot shortages in the grocery stores of stuff like water. All of the hotels are full. The riverwalk was hoppin' tonight

Friend of mine from S. Houston said 5 hours to travel 40 miles yesterday.

    Good luck to everyone

A friend's brother left Houston at 3:30 am Wed and in 15 hours made Conroe. Turned around and went home, and this morning made it further in 30 minutes than he did in 10 hours yesterday. Maybe the gridlock is getting better. After my daughter's 6 hour drive to Austin Tuesday afternoon, her boyfriend took 12 hours to get from Houston to Austin yesterday. What a frustrating mess!

From what my friend Tony says (he's in Houston). The traffic where he is is horrendous (sp?). People are running out of gas on the highway in the traffic jam so if movement occurs it gets further F-d up cuz the cars are out of gas or broken down.

On the news they just showed that they had shut down 45 for hours!!! A bus carrying elderly burst into flames. Rescuers were pulling people off, but they believe some of the people had oxygen tanks, which began exploading. They believe as many as 20 people died. Very sad. This has made a traffic jam from Dallas to Houston. Unreal!

Yeah, they had busses running out of Galveston and points south. Big problem now is cars running out of gas while stuck on the freeway, and nowhere to fill up even if they wanted to.

With the levee's breaking in N.O. again, I think that's sign enough to not rebuild. Sorry to those of you who call it home and would continue to, but I just don't think it's a smart idea now.

According to the latest path the eye is headed directly toward my lake house in East Texas. The storm is supposed to stall in the area between Tyler and Texarkana...that's me! This should be interesting, just glad I dont live there.

Note to self for next week:
    call the tree guy
    call the roofer
    call the window guy
call the boat dealer because I cant find mine
