Rita seems a long way East of Houston - I'm suspecting the damage there won't be so bad (unlike New Orleans...). To my knowledge, it is also above sea level.

I just got off the phone with my sister in Bellaire, so far she lost power but it's fickering on & off. She also added that they got very little rain, just some high winds that took out a couple of small plants. So they are safe for now. (whew) Getting back into Houston for everyone else is going to be another problem all it's own.

Downgraded to Catagory 2 now. The eye is quite a long way inland.

Looks like the Texas coast dodged a bullet, thankfully.

Today I had to water the lawn; I put fertilizer on the lawn yesterday thinking it would get rained in today. I was wrong.

Was raining out in Van, Texas this morning (out near Tyler). I left around 11 a.m. Wind gusts were...um...fun....in the Chrysler mini-van. But, that's alright...we had tons of music equipment in the van, so we were much heavier than your run-of-the-mill soccer-kid hauler.

My parents in San Antonio said it was gorgeous today. They had a garage sale. :) Yes, I do believe we dodged a bullet. Poor Louisiana. :(
