Thats an interesting project. Its basically the same engine so I imagine it should be too much work. I'd love to see that job. If you have the BB engine though why dont you just rebuild it w BBLM parts ?
Contact TRutlands for an answer. I doubt it, without substantial mods, since I think there are different mountings for the entire cooling system.
Ask Norwood for details. They built a 1979 512 bb with a twin-turbo TR engine. Article's in Forza May 2002 (#37).
And can Porsche Weber's IDA3 used for converting to mech. fuel injection? Like cutting of the original IFC3 and refit to a BB.
I think it's best to ask the experts at Norwood Performance since they do a lot of Ferrari modifications.
Not about time, only is it pretty easy to fit a TR engine? Are there Fchatters who have a TR engine in their BB?
Read the article, great! 863 HP. Many mods needed to except the TR engine. Oke have to put BBLM pistons, conrods and cams in it.
BB engines are lifted out for repair. Are TR engines lifted out as well or dropped with suspension and all like the 355?
I dont think a testarossa engine would be much of an improvement, but a 512tr motor or a 512m would be a huge gain without the temprment and fragility of a bblm spec motor probably cost less too. Interesting project, anybody have any idea where a resonably priced 512m or tr motor can be found? I am game. One concern is that the 512m motor sat lower in the car so it might be much more complicated. Then of course any bb is going to need adequate suspension and brakes to go with the power.
