If you want something that will turn a lot of heads, then the Diablo is a great choice. I would go with a 6.0. The Murcielago is an awesome car, but it doesn't grab me like the Diablo either.
I agree that your father might regret selling the TR though. Not right away, but later on when he realizes that he was in possession of one of the last mid engined 12 cylinder Ferraris of the 20th century.

More head-turning than a 512TR, huh? An upgrade? Hmmm...

I recommend a somewhat less expensive exotic such that you can buy it AND keep the 512TR... and then periodically replace the other car, that way you don't get bored... but keep the 512TR, because the only upgrade in your budget, given your desires, would be the 512TR plus something else.

In that budget, I might look at a 288GTO... equally head-turning and would be quite a bit different. I have no clue on the RHD issue though.

Or if you're a 12-lover, I personally would be after a BB512i ... I love the boxers... but its not really as much of a head-turner as the 512TR.

And what does that have to do with anything?

No offense, but I think you're on the wrong forum.

Don't worry, Doug. I wouldn't be surprised if he said the same thing about this "dog old TR," too. ;)

At that price, there are alot of cars you can buy. You have a very high budget.

Like most, I suggest keeping the 512TR then. Its a very special car, and its value will only increase as the years go on. I say you sit on it and let it collect more value, that way many years from now you can sell it for a much higher amount...because its likely that will happen.

Basically you can buy any modern, fast exotic you want. Go down to your local dealers and do some test drives. If you're not looking for new, then check eBay and places like FerrariAds, or DuPont Registry. You could almost pinch off enough for an F40, but you might not want to go that extreme and blow your whole wad on the car, leaving nothing left for maintenance and the like.

I would love to be in your position. If I were to replace my Testarossa... I would not. I would add another exotic to my collection. Anyway, in your case,

    1. The 288GTO may have all the exotic looks and sound that you are looking for and it's closly related to the F40 but it's 10 years back from the 512TR if you don't mine that, that will be best choice.
    2. may be reconsider the Jagure XJ220. with test pipe and performance exhaust you could have the sound you want.
    3. The Diablo is very nice exotic look, real head twister... not that fun to drive, I think. I feel like driving a truck somehow, IMO....

Saleen S7 is my vote, but I dont know if they made them in RHD. The price is in your range.

Or go big and you dont have to worry about RHD- McLaren F1.

That's an unneccesary cheap shot and FYI Murcie never turns heads like my 512TR does!

The Murcielago is nice but the 512TR is just outrageous. She still turns lots of heads over 10 years later. The Murcielago just cant compete on sheer outrageousness

A 1999 SV might be worth looking into. The interior is updated, the ram air is neat looking and the front looks better than the 6.0 (to me). Plus it's rear wheel drive, which some claim is a benefit over the 4WD. With a few mods (convex mirror, back-up camera) it is really easy and fun to drive.

Or as some have suggested, keep the TR and add an early Diablo. See TomF-1's pics if you want to be tempted to take this option.

ask and you shall receive :) ....(see my avatar for a glance at pre-95 diablo). in my owership experience (512tr as well as the later model diablo roadster), i can attest you can't go wrong with anyone of these cars. fwiw, i enjoy driving my early yellow diablo a lot more than my diablo roadster and i enjoyed my roadster a lot more than my 512TR.

i m less than disctint about the exotic car market in the UK but as someone has eluded earlier, if everything being equal....your budget should allow you the ability to keep your 512TR and add on any pre-murci lamborghini (including a roadster or 6.0 diablo...which runs in the high 160k or low 170k here in the US). good luck w/ your search.

shoot, you're only 100,000 USD off of a koenigsegg CC........

that would turn heads, be faster than anything (until the veyron becomes popular), and the doors alone look like they're worth 100,000 USD

its only 100k USD, whats that like 10k GBP :) ?
