    Hi all,

a brief account of why i joined this site:

My father was absolutely passionate about ferrari's thoughout his life and had always owned one as long as i could remember. He lived in the states for many years so i never really learn't much about ferrai's from him although i always thought they were amazing cars. he sadly passed away last year and ever since i've had to urge to continue his passion by buying my own ferrari which is a daunting experience coimg from someone who has always owned old classic mini's (!)

i basically joined this sit to get a bit of advice about buying a second hand ferrari (older the better), what to look for or where are the best places to go (i live in the london area) such as auctions, specialist ferrari garages etc. cost is not much of an issue and i'm prepared to pay to have a fair amount of work done on it although i dont want to have to completely restore it because of the time factor invloved. any other suggestions of how to find out more information about old ferrari's would be greatly appreciated.

    thank you all!

When you've read the above have a think about what you want - look at classified ads - look at this site - use the 'search' function - many of your questions will be answered - then come back when you need specific advice/ideas - good luck welcome & enjoy

Martin, this and F-chat.com are superb, helped me no end,...try going to a local f-chat meet or even a FOC meet...and try to look back through previous threads for info, saves asking the same question again!,

I would recommend a 348 as a good entry level car. You shouldn't lose any money on one, there's still plenty of lovely examples around and they are generally very reliable cars. There one or two lovely examples on here for sale' ie burrianas, omega steves.

    Hi Martin, and welcome.

I think you need to decide which model you want first and take it from there. You said the older the better, how old are we talking, and what's your budget?

The 328 is an excellent first Ferrari, but I would say that 'cause it is my first. :)

My first Ferrari was a 348. They are a great car. Very reliable indeed. I used mine as my daily drive for 10 months. The cost to keep one is minimal. As long as you like the look (which I did) you would not go wrong.
