Perhaps you can explain why YOU should live forever.

no one "should" live forever, we all deserve to spend an eternity in hell. As humans we are inheritly an evil and fallen creation, and it's only by grace through faith alone, that anyone can spend an eternity with God and have an everlasting life..

Had a heart attack and went "out."
They brought me back. While I know that is not "dying" I was told by the docs it was pretty damn close. Like going to sleep. I look at it this way: We didn't miss the thousands of years before we were born, and we won't miss the time after we die. That said, I'd like to live as long as I can take care of myself and have all my senses...such as they are.

I don't think about death per se', but more of how many people are coming to the party after I die. I would want to make sure it was a grand event that people will talk about for years. I guess I care about friends and family's happiness more then my mortality.

All that being said, a friend from HS just died last week and it was amazing for most of us, since he was the first one from my HS to die(within my years span). Made us all really sit back and think about this more.

You have a guilty conscience it sounds like. I don't give a crap about death, it will come when it comes and when it does, I hope people party after they chunk my dead ass in a deep hole with no casket and no head stone. The only part of death I don't look forward to is the dying part, it sounds like it hurts. Once that's over with, I am cool.
Actually, I like to get taxidermied and get made in to a hat rack, or a cigar holder.

I am with Frank on this one.

Wow, thats a scary thought. Not the living forever through a relationship with God part..... the agreeing with Frank part! ;)

Also can agree with Euro..... some days my wife makes it feel like eternity will NEVER arrive!

Life is after all the most dangerous sport: the fatality rate is 100%!

It is completely out of my mind.... my death, that is.

My grandmother? My parents? My brother? I think about it all the time. I haven't had to deal with a death of someone that close and when I say I can't imagine what I do I mean it. Scariest thoughts ever!

It's not death itself, but the end of life that is the sad part.
So fill up your life with great experiences, love, happy thoughts and try not to do something you'll regret or to do something that hurts other people.
    :):) cheer up :)

This thread reads like Fight Club!

The only time I fear dying is when I get those darned "flashbacks" whilst speeding in the rain. I get these flashes of losing control of the car and skidding into oncoming traffic. Then I cringe! Then I picture hitting a little girl fetching her ball, double cringe! Its what gets me to slowdown, in more than one way.

In dreams, a "car" often represents your direction in life, your vehicle of moving forward. I used to always dream about crashing which got me thinking about death for quite a bit.

    hmm...

The only other time I have feelings of impending doom, is when theres severe turbulance on an airplane.

Without turning this into a religious post, I think that humans are extremely fragile creatures. I think most of us make it through as far as we do soley by the grace of god.

    Rant out

I hate to see another religious debate start here, but posts like Frank's and Perry's compel me to comment.

In Christian teaching that is based on the notion of a literally infallible Bible as the only true source of spiritual knowledge available to man, the human race was begun by two original ancestors, Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve, spiritual beings at the outset, became sinful material beings by misuse of free will, and their sin tainted all of their descendants with Original Sin. God creates a new soul each time a human being is conceived, and this soul is automatically endowed with a sinful nature because of the Original Sin of Adam and Eve. Individual human beings are just hapless victims of the cosmic scheme...they had no part in the events that led to their physical conception, the creation of their souls, and their subsequent automatic damnation to hell.

This explanation suggests that God has no control over his own creation, or is a sadist...that he is either forced in some way to endow each new innocent human soul with free will and and a sinful nature that will eventually damn that soul to eternal hell, or that he does so out of his own capricious nature, giving each individual only one chance at life while professing to "love" them by sending Jesus as their only chance to escape hell, and then sitting back and watching what happens.

It didn't make sense to me when I was six years old and in Christian school, and fifty years later, it still doesn't.

Buddhists think about death often. Its great to keep you from wasting your life. We never know if we will wake up tommorow so its better to do everything you want now and enjoy every moment to its fullest because you never know when the last one is coming

Living everyday like it's your last, make you look like a prick 80% of the time IMO.

Consideration of other people is paramount. There are way too many selfish people in the world today. And believe it or not, many Ferrari owners fall into that category.

My opinion and not aimed at anyone in particular.

I had a dream about dying last night, but the dream continued after the person who looked like me died, so who knows if I actually died, but it was a little upsetting when I woke up. I only think about death when someone I love is flying or going on a long trip. I'll be such a wreck if one of them is ever hurt or killed.

I do think about death even at the age 0f 20. I do think that I will go to a better place than earth when I pass,as long as I am a nice person on earth. I've known people who almost died and saw a white light. I've seen TV shows of people who had bad afterdeath experiences and came back.
