We'll see what Darth says in the morning.. I wouldn't buy any watch without first consulting his highness. C.
I like the TAG Carrera a lot. I almost bought one but went with the Monza Calibre 36 instead. I can't say anything about the reliability because I have only had it for a month or so. I bought mine from Authentic Watches, the vendor in that first ebay link. Their prices are a little cheaper on their website versus their ebay auctions. I think the only hitch with them is that the warranty is with Authentic Watches versus TAG themselves. They have been around a while and service the brand, so hopefully not a big deal. Other than that, they were easy to work with and shipped via FedEx for overnight delivery.
I like the Carrera a lot. I've had my Tag for over 4 years and no problems. Just need the battery changed out every 2 years.
I like the general appearance of the watch, it's nice and clean. Where I have a problem with it, however, is the silver hands on the silver dial....it's difficult to see the time quickly if there's no contrast. If you like TAG Heuer watches, may I suggest you also look at the Targa Florio model, no longer in production but still available: http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.watchwarehouse.com/itemimages/tmbs/26cx2113_fc6177-sm.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.watchwarehouse.com/brand/tag-heuer.jsp&h=160&w=90&sz=5&tbnid=yC0oUZyysF8J:&tbnh=92&tbnw=51&hl=en&start=24&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dtag%2Bheuer%2Btarga%2Bflorio%26start%3D20%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DN
I have the Tag Carrera with a black face and I like it a lot. I've had no problems with it. It is pretty large and heavy. It's automatic (no battery). The chrono operation is not as smooth as more expensive watches. The minute hand in the chrono "tics" from one minute to the next, which I like. Good watch. I also have the rubber banded black Cartier posted earlier, and with that one I have had some problems having to send it back for repair. Also it is NOT an automatic, but is battery powered. Mark
Maybe the fact that i don't get mine wet has helped, lol. I'm happy to report no problems so far in my case.
That tag reminds me alot of the Omega Speedmaster. Would rather have the speedmaster... Image Unavailable, Please Login

I want this as my next watch Tiffany Mark T-57 chronograph, automatic mechanical movement. Hour, minute, chronograph second hands; 3 sub dials (small seconds at 3 o'clock, 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock, 30 minutes counter at 9 o'clock); date window. 37 jewels. Chronometer, C.O.S.C. certified. Stainless steel bracelet. $3,800 http://www.tiffany.com/shopping/item.aspx?c_id=WEB1&c_it=72Z6&start_id=1&CategoryId=455&category=Watches&
I've been reading many of the threads on FChat regarding watches, and have always like the Tiffany line, but nobody has mentioned them. So I am curious, traditionally how reputable are the Tiffany watches? Would most people on this board simply prefer a comparably priced Omega, Tag, etc. to the Tiffany watches?
I have the Carrera Chrono with a leather band. I wear it everywhere, track days, riding the Ducati and my German Shepherd has tried to eat it several times. I have had it for about three years; it is bulletproof and keeps great time
The only reason why I have not bought this watch yet is because I don't know how well they are made.....I am told is a great watch. I think I am going to go ahead and get it. Antony
Now, Omar looks like he got hooked w/ the bug,,, GP looks nice, too. I don't know all models of each brand though. I have 1 GP, but don't remember its model name. I cannot remember all names, but remember their looks, sort of like lady friends. Important thing is that you enjoy them, right? Let us know if you decided which model you're going for. Some of us can help you to locate better source for purchase, like Jakermc already posted.
That helps you, but you would think that a dive watch could deal with a splash. Turned me off the brand for good...
I am going to go with the Tag, but at a suggestion of a close friend, I am going to wait until after Christmas and then visit various jewelers. Thanks all for your help! I am going to try and use this as a 'stepping stone' watch and move up to bigger and better watches later.
Omar, save up for the bigger ones now as these things aren't exactly something you can trade up as they are worth fractions of MSRP once you take them out of the store...
True, but the buying strategy is the same... BTW, the background on the laptop is an Arnage RL Mulliner. No way I'm paying $280k for a new one, rather have in 10 years at $30k...
Great car...now and will be. Just started getting Flying Spurs in.(6 so far)......Great car as well...Very fast for their size... [/hijack]
