What car, that you had pretty high expectations of, have you been most dissapointed in? I got to compare a BMW 530 vs. Cadillac STS, thanks to kind folks at Road & Track. I really had high expectations of the the Bimmer, but I was very dissapointed in it. They were both automatics, but the BMW did not handle well, was under powered, andthe most annoying thing was the damn near on second delay between hittin' the gas and actually getting acceleration. Hopefully the M5 will improve on this, I know it will have more power, but who knows, damn Germans!

My mom's car, a new 1990 Chevy Lumina, back in my senior year of HS.

It was homecoming and my girlfriend claimed to have a headache!

    Honda Prelude, last generation made.

I loved almost everything about the car, except the feel of front wheel drive. It was my first and last FWD car.

If "Most disappointed" implies expecting a lot and getting very little, my biggest letdown ever: a new 88 Coutach.

My dad's 2000 Ford Explorer 2-door. I didn't have very high expectations of the thing to begin with, but that thing sucks. No matter how much time I spend maintaining my family's cars, my dad's is always suffering from some mechanical malady because he runs his cars into the ground. BUT, this thing is the worst SUV I have ever driven; it gets stuck on the most minor of obstacles and the front end couldn't pull that thing out of an outhouse. My little 2002 Escape 4X4 with the BFG Mud Terrains is a far more versatile vehicle and with 4 doors, my dad loves it and has, on occasion, tried to "trade" me his Explorer for my Escape.

    Sorry, Dad. No deal.

I tend to agree. C5's all the way up. People say it's a great car, one of the best Corvettes they've driven, but I don't find it all what its cracked up to be. After driving the 'new' Corvettes, I have found it's the most sterile, condescending, politically correct, Caddy-like handling sports car I've ever driven. I'm not critiquing it's power, but the overall experience was nothing short of a luxury sedan lowered to the ground. To better understand where I'm coming from, I think I have been one of the few lucky ones to have driven several Ferrari's prior and when I take that 'experience' and step into GM's mighty car, I have to say, it's quite the contrast. And as the topic says, it left me... dissapointed.

Do they make any other 5 series besides the 540 manual and the M5?

    Wow, I learned something new!

I understand your disappointment much better now! :p

Hands down Audi A4 1.8T. It is soooo boring. I can't stand driving it. The Alfa is being worked on, so it is the "thing" that I'm driving for a while. It may be better if it was a stick, but I'm not so sure...

Not one I owned but I was heartbroken by when I went to look at it, Lotus Esprit. I don't see how I could drive that thing.
