I was in Monterey/Pebble Beach in august and I saw the Bugatti Veyron and many other extreme cars there. Now I was talking to some guys at Hennessey Performance about there new modifications coming out. Now if anyone isnt familiar with Hennessey, they make 1000hp Vipers and tune other exotics. Now until recently they have only tuned the Convertible Vipers. Now with the SRT 10 Coupe coming out, Hennessey has said that car can do 255 MPH, and 2.25 sec 0-60. Isnt that a slap in the face to the Million dollar Bugatti Veyron? It took them to make three years and a huge investment by VW to make 1000hp. Hennessey comes along and makes a car faster with
$220,000 for each car. Now I know the 255 mph Viper isnt official yet but I wouldnt doubt them given there tuning reputation.

First of all the Veryon isn't a production car yet.
Second this Hennessey Viper is a "tuner" car, so it really doesn't matter now does it.

Also, not to burst your bubble, but Hennessey has a BAD rep. A bunch of customers sued them no to long ago.

not at all. if you have the money to put down on a bugatti, who cares about a little viper? i would freak if i ever saw a veyron, but i don't even look at a little dodge passing by, nor do i care. roll up in a veyron and you own everything, roll up in a dodge henessey whatever, and you're still a little guy.

by the way, the EVO owns all, every car on the road. on the track, everywhere. lol.

I'd sooner turn my first born over to Charles Manson than give my car to Hennessey. They get spectacular power out of those cars but actually getting a car out of their shop is another thing entirely.

Hi, I respect your excitement about this new Viper but as someone said here, it still a tuner car. You can't compare a Bugatti with tonnes of History and prestige to a car that uses Lego block plastic to do their interior.

I agree the EVO is a fantastic car. I wish I had spent a little more money and gotten the EVO instead of a base WRX.

This whole topic should be moved to the cars section though sing we aren't discussing the Enzo or any Ferrari supercar.

From what I read he was taking parts off customer cars and selling them to others. At some point his 'shell game' ran out of gas when several clients demanded their cars back at the same time.

car to car, viper needs a 100 grand turbo upgrade, the veyron needs a $300 boost controler, crank the boost on it's quad turbos a tad, and I am sure you can put out 1200 or 1300hp easy......

they just started production, only a few of them hae been made, but if i recall correctly, some of the mules were in fact spotted on the open roads. one in denver/aspen/boulder area, one in riverside or irvine, one in monaco (no surprise), and other places

yes that is a fast car, but still a viper. dont they make a minivan too. the styling of a viper could never come close to a ferrari. 255mph is just for the magazine reviews. who is going to go 255mph? going 255mph is sort of like an inexperienced driver switching the control to CST ( traction control off) on a f430. SUICIDE. well, if u had a LONG airport runway i guess you could do it. if you are going too pull a copy of car and driver each time someone asks about your car get drunk and spend 225 on a modded dodge. if u are like the real enthusiasts and driver/owners on this site. no harm intended.

How is it a slap in the face when Hennessey spent $0 in the development of the Viper? All they did is buy a Viper and add some bolt-ons and developed from there. Bugatti started from nothing. A large step from just tuning cars to go fast and creating cars.

Anyway what makes Hennessey special, tuners in the drag racing scene with 1000bhp+ motors have been around alot time.

You could take a 1985 Minivan and drop a jet engine in it and beat most super cars in a 0-60 or 1/4 mile race..... you have to judge a car by its whole package.

I'm sure you know what I mean as I am sure you are aware that VW has not always owned Bugatti. Its been around for about a century and has a huge racing past. I am not a huge nostalgic and cannot give you exact facts or numbers but I know that much.

There is a couple of guys on the European section that can give you an ear full on Bugatti's History and prestige.
