The new Z06 is a very fast car but I think a F430 could beat it, what do you all think?

Apples to oranges, but both cars are VERY close. It comes down to driver and track if you ask me.

    Both high 3's to 60.
Both high 11's in the 1/4 mile.
Both high 190's for top speed.
    Both similar skid pad #'s.
Both have very simiar braking #'s to.

Tuff call. I'll take one of each.

Certainly not in a drag race, but that isn't a Fcars strong point. As far as a track is concerned, I think it's too close to call at this point. Will need to have the cars on same track same day to tell.

ill take a ferrari over a vette anyday. its a chevy! they make a full size trcuk as well. extra $ for ferrari anyday of the week. the sound is way better too. I actually think that the f430 could beat it around any track too.

Don't get me wrong, any F-car sounds great.
BUT have you even heard a GM LS series V8, let alone the LS7 in the new ZO6? I have, and they sound GREAT.

Acoording to times at the ring, the zo6 (even on run flats) is significantly faster.

We drive the old 360 and the new corvette this summer in superstage and the 360 was about 1-2s faster everytime. So i think the 430 has a little bit better aerodynamik.
But it depends on the drver very mutch.

    sigh,not this again :(
check R&T 0-60 is 4.2 and 1/4 in 12.3 for the z06, no matter what chevy says. And all the other cars mags are full of it,nuff said.
So yes the 430 will win, but put a good driver in the chevy and he'll likey win if the Ferrari driver is average or worse. On track, even an ok Ferrari driver should compete/win against a very good vette one....I hope.

apples to oranges man....apples to oranges

I have SEEN one run a 11.7.....4 passes.
Other mags have bested that 12.3....that 12.3 wasn't on a track anyway.

So they are VERY even cars.

why are only R&T's numbers to be trusted over other magazines?

i assumed they were ALL shills to the industry (it's crystal clear who is paying their bills each month).

is there something about R&T that makes it more even-handed than the other guys?

not trying to argue - i'm genuinely curious.

I think it's a non issue unless you are a professional race driver who makes his living by winning races, and you happen to be driving one of the two cars.

Why not ask something more amusing like...
If you were being chased down the middle of the street by a Hit man,
and you were on foot running as fast as you can.
Would you have a better chance of getting away from him if he was driving a Z06 or an F430?
Would it make a difference if the Hit man was a Hit woman with a silencer on her pistol and a Tubi on her exhaust?

I had an opportunity to drive a "normal" 05 Convertible six speed. What a car, and an absolute bargain to boot.

    Two different yet amazing sounds -- Ferrari v. Vette. I can't wait to hear a Z06 and a 430.

That's why one needs to own both! ;)

It's a different sound. Loud does not equal great.
Muscle cars usually sound like a pot of water boiling, Ferrari has the distinctive F1 sound. Apple and orange.

The C6 Z06 smokes it in almost every avenue of competition

Years ago I drove a boss' early 1990's ZR1, white with red interior. By all measures, it was one of the ugliest and mechanically unsound sports cars I have ever been in. It was horrible! A friend has a C5 and it's a wonderful car. There are many reasons we choose the cars we own and drive and the Z06 checks a lot of those boxes, but like the Ford GT it just doesn’t do anything for me.

for the money the smart choice is the vette, over the 430..it will probably smoke it on the track and in a drag race and not cost 6-10 grand everytime you need to have it serviced or it breaks..AND you can have enough money to buy a used 360 Syder for profiling around town..don't get me wrong I absolutely love Ferrari's they are a work of art... but you'd think for the kind of $$$ they cost they'd be able to trounce any corvette on the planet.
