    So I walked into my local video game store today to reserve an Xbox 360, only to be told, "Our first shipment is sold out -- you can reserve a system for the second shipment, which will be 2-3 weeks later".

    I'm not waiting 3 weeks! If I'm plunking down $500 bucks for a system and game, I want it THE DAY it comes out! Can anyone offer any advice?

    Better hope for some good software available for it when it comes out, otherwise you're a proud owner of an over hyped CD/DVD player. Project Gotham Racing 3 & Need for Speed Most Wanted are the only titles I'd be interested in.

    Toys R Us if you have that. You can put as little as 50 bucks down right now and pay the rest later.

    Have read several reviews all saying the PS3--slated for a 04/06 release will blow away the 360--I will wait....

    What are you complaining about? "If I'm plunking down $500 bucks for a system and game, I want it THE DAY it comes out"... well, put your frickin money down earlier then, or at a different store. Everyone else who buys it after day 1 still pays the same, it's not like you were paying extra for that privilege.

    I didn't book my first Xbox, and got it the day it came out... I just had to call around to 6-8 stores to track one down, and drive an hour to get it (of course, I lived 45min from a big city).

    I did my reserve like a year ago, $50 that was it at Game Stop, but I was told Wall Mart will sell without reserves, first comes basis.
