There have been a bunch of Gallardos going for that lately. I can't understand though, bc its a great car, but I guess the public speaks and it shows through the prices.

Anyone know of serious problems with the Gcars that would make so many people want to get rid of them so soon for so little?

Well... I was trying to think of some possible reasons for why people would want to get rid of their Gallardo and this is what I came up with:

    1. It's not a Murcielago
    2. It's not a Ferrari
    3. It doesn't run on solar energy
    4. Emil has one.
    5. You could own a mondial, a 308 and a testarossa for about the same money
    6. You can rent one at Gotham Dream Cars, so why own one?

    ANy others? :)

Hate to burst your bubble Hora but $145k for a 3k mile black 6-speed ain't a good price ... you can get yellow e-gears (more desirable in the eyes of the market) for $145k - $148k, and you need to take at least $5k off for the e-gear difference.....;)

Black 6-speeds have been the lowest-priced cars on the market for a while -- seems they're always the ones having trouble being moved, hence the "market leader" (or loser) status on price...

**** all you haters! I hear Bush tried to nominate a Gallardo to the Supreme Court, but the car was all, like, "Why you gunna play me like dat, Jorge?" and declined the nomination. :)

On the reliability front, the car is either rock solid or not at all. There does not appear to be any middle ground and you know if you have a bad one in about 300 miles...

I was thinking a $145K *ask* would potentially translate into a transacted price of $140K which, to me, would have been on the lower end of the price-spectrum. It's also a low-mileage car. But I hear ya on the color (even though I think Black's hella sexy).

Has anybody seen G prices break the $130K barrier?

Yes...but only for examples with "higher" mileage. The definitition of "higher" is fluid in this case.

True.... but it could be compared to the mondial. Gallardo, the "Mondial" of Lamborghini's. A slogan like that could really boost the prices!

You know , I was researching anti theft devices for my mondial and someone suggested that I should just put a new mondial emblem on my car with larger, easier to read letters.

    I think it's mainly due to supply-demand.
A 2nd-hand item usually does not hold value too well, if it's easily obtainable new.

Anyone can walk into a Lamborghini dealer anytime, and buy a Gallardo at a discount off msrp, so a 1 yr old used(soon to be 2 MY old) at 15% discount is not all that attractive.

Ferraris are different. More people want to buy them than what's available for sale. That's why you will have to pay $50k over msrp for a F430, or pay msrp or more for a '04 360 Spider, or pay 15% off of msrp for a 3 yrs old Modena.

I personally do not know what's Lamborghini's targeting market for the Gallardo. It seems that most who are the Ferrari type are not really drawn to Gallardo, if it did, the Modena market would have tanked, but it did not. Most of those who saved up 150 large ones are still searching for their dream '02+ 360, despite the fact they can get a nearly new Gallardo which is a better performer.

    Further guess:
    a) People who own several exitic cars, always want to buy the newest toy out there, played with it, and decided not to keep.
    b) People who has no loyalty towards a particular brand, who jumps from one car to another to experience, who did "been there done that" with Gallardo and moved on.
    c) People who gave Gallardo a shot over Ferraris because it's a better bang for the buck, and figured out it does not really do it for them, and moved on.

Thus, IMO, a combination of all above make a soft 2nd-hand Gallardo market.

My personal opinion on the car itself:
    a) It's a Lamborghini, but the doors do not go up.
    b) Interior is Audi.
    c) AWD and weight.

Imagine the looks you'll get as you swing into the truck stop and top off the tanks on your Diesel Mondi !

Won't other exotic car owners be envious as you roar through speed traps, clear mosquitos from your neighborhood, but smell like you spent the day cleaning your furnace...

how about the people who have owned/driven both (Emil, Noah)

which one would both of you take? what are your thoughts on it's current market price?

Rensing, you may be a bit biased on this since we know what you ended up with!

I've owned both and would easily take another Gallardo over a 360. Given the price difference, I would also take the Gallardo over the 430.

Technically, I think Noah owns 2 of each, but I digress... ;)

If I could only have 1, I'd go Gallardo. It's a better "all around" ride compared to a 360 and certainly a Stradale. Not sure about the 430, though, but it'd be hard to top the Gallardo as an all-around drive.

Oh, and I define all around as a mixture of performance and luxury, performance and reliability, performance and confort, performance and performance...
