With all these threads comparing the new ZO6 and F430, I think real world dyno figures would settle a bit of it.

So does has anyone had their F430 on a dyno?

Explain how comparing quantitative numbers is considered bench racing?

That's exactly what bench racing is.

They're right Hans. We should, instead, do 'real' racing... you know... like what Ferrari does with the Enzo and the F430......... right?... oh.... wait.

haha. You guys have a good sense of humor. However, those who own the F430 should get the Z06 and have fun with both! Whereas those with just the Z06 can wonder all day long how it would be to drive an F430. That's exactly the point. Comparing these two cars is rather puerile. It's analogous to comparing the new 1000 RWHP Hennessey Viper SRT-10 and the Bugatti Veyron.

Diffrent deal, but I just attended Road Atlanta's Petit LeMans. You should have seen the MC12, Corvettes, and DB9s mixing it up. The Corvette club turn out was over 100. with a display for the new Z06, including a frame and engine display.

why do people continue to compare these two cars? F430 vs. Gallardo and Viper vs. Corvette is what it's supposed to be. Two completely different cars. What's next? The Mustang Cobra

Even though I own a Ferrari I understand it. The reason is because what Chevy did with the Vette is amazing. The performance per dollar is just unbeatable. Back in the day, you paid the big dollars to get an exotic because you also got the performace. But now you don't have to dish out a large amount of cash to get the performance. The old argument used to be that not only did the car look good, it could also beat just about any car on the road. Now the only thing they have is the looks. Even then, if you were to compair the looks of the new Vette to a new Ferrari, the new Vette isn't bad looking. Not exotic, but not bad looking. Plus the car is just soooooo much cheaper to own than a Ferrari, with greater performance. If I was looking to buy a new car on performance figures only, hate to say it but I don't think I would be dishing out the cash for a new Ferrari.

However in defence of Ferrari, they took a HUGE step in the right direction with the 430. In my opinion the two biggest things are, getting rid of the STUPID timing belt/s, and the jump in displacement. Ferrari is also improving the reliability of the cars.

Love it or hate it the new Z06 is an awesome deal.

I think its more the package that comes with owning a Ferrari. For me, it was never performance and looks. Performance has always been fairly cheap. We all know what an EVO can do with only small modifications.

Its simple, with a Ferrari you get more than just a car. 50 or so years of glistening motor racing. A heratige like no other and a reputation unrivaled. Even on a different level than Lambo's & P-cars.

The vette might be a great deal but honestly, look at the nationality of the people re-hashing this argument.

What the heck does that have to do with dyno numbers?

The thread was about dyno power numbers. So I stuck to the power issue.

Sorry but simply put, you're an ignorant dumb @ss.

It seems that the greatest hurdle that the Vette has to overcome overseas is the pervasive anti-Americanism which is made rather obvious in posts such as these.

    BTW I'm not American.

Yes of course, because no one could possibly give a car credit based on it's merits rather than it's country of origin.

with 15% loss, a 430 should dyno RWHP about 410.

however, F usually materially embellishes its HP numbers, so i'm using 380 RWHP until i see a few dynos.

ok, once and for all. GRRRRRRRRRRR> The fact that the corvette is a good deal for the performance, bang for buck if you will. (assuming bang means speed only... because corvette quality is just plain awful.) I was in the car business for years so I know the quality... anyway, the fact that it is cheap speed has NOTHING to do with anything. These two cars are in no way, no how, no reason comparable. To mention them in the same sentence is ignorant. You know what? The Hyundai Sonata is an absolute fantastic car for the money with tons of features but I am not going to compare it to a Mercedes. The Mitsubishi is really fast but I am not going to compare it to an NSX. And, the corvette is fast as is my blown 69 camaro, my friend's Ducati motorcycle, my uncle's 41 Willy's coupe, the Grand National and my Articat Snowmobile but NONE of those I just mentioned are COMPARABLE to each other and NONE of them should ever be mentioned in the same breath as a Ferrari F430.

When you compare something, you compare like things in the same class. Class, by definition, is decided by many factors together. In the case of cars, it includes, all but not limited to, Speed, price range, handling, quality, ergonomics, size, technology, design, braking.....

So whoever said that you compare corvette to viper and ferari to lambo is exactly correct.

Last point for the simpleminded and thickheaded.
An apple is roughly the same size as an orange but we don;t compare those so, given the fact that the only similarity between vette and 430 is speed, STOP F***ING COMPARING THEM>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a pipe dream for vette owners to even think they can compare so stop dreaming and get to reality. You own a good car with a ton of power for little money and it looks decent. Great job. Enjoy your car but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop the frickin dream that you can compare it to an F430.

Compare: equating like objects. THESE ARE NOT LIKE OBJECTS!!!!!

    Thank you for your time.
