Rick, not too bad I guess, I lost three teeth on 2nd gear, the parts will be here Tuesday. should be back in the car on Friday. I put new bearings in the box and new 2nd Gear synchro...

About $2,000 in parts.... no word on labor... fingers crossed.

Awe man that sucks Chris. I guess this is busted tranny month for Fchat.

I feel your pain. I just pulled the tranny out of my 348 on Thursday. One of the bevel gears is THRASHED, a bearing and who knows what else. So FatBillyBob and I are going to rebuild it.

I hope it goes well for you.

So what would cause 2nd gear teeth to fail? Too hot?

I got to meet one of the andretti girls tonight, she had some really neat stories about her family and schumacher in the pit areas. He apparently loves coming to the states b/c no one recognizes him here. They were in town for the nascar events this weekend.

I have had recent cause to speak direct to the F40 supremo himself, Christiano Michelotto about upgrading the F40 including the engine and transmission.Amongst other interesting things he had to say about the F40 was the notorious weakness of the second gear of the standard gearbox.Apparently second gear failures were a common occurence once customers started taking their F40s on the track. There are stronger gears available to cure the problem. No doubt your choice replacement second gear will be a stronger component to avoid the same thing happening again particularly if the car is to be driven on the track.

Well we are back on the road as of Friday afternoon! It took a while to get the gear set, none in the US, so it came by slow boat from Italy!

$5,940.00= $2,300 in parts, $3,640 in labor and tax. I guess it could have been alot worse.

I did not realize how much I needed to replace 2nd gear until now, it shifts so much better than it ever has!

It is great to be back on the road!
