Same here. Although I've always done that:

- Xbox for PGR2 and Forza
- PS2 for F1 and GT4

 

You're the first I've talked to that thinks that, I was personally underwhelmed by TDU videos! It's definitely a rental for me though, but only a *maybe* purchase. I'm buying an X360 FOR PGR3.

 

i promise you the audio for the 355 will be incredibly wicked cool.

i'm convinced the sony equivalent games never will have ferraris because they are more interested in trying to promote the whole japanese car ricer thing.

 

yes, the audio WILL be amazing. i was reading a long arcticle about the game and they explained the long process of going over everything about the (with the real car at hand) car, especially the sound.

 

A little OT, but I saw a brief clip of a new Formula 1 game for Playstaion 3 on television a week or so ago. Looked AMAZING! I can't decide if I want to get xbox 360 for PGR3 or playstation 3 for F1....

 

speaking of getting an xbox 360... every place I've seen is selling ridiculous bundles... does anyone have a source for them, just the console? pre-order?

 

Was it on actual PS3 hardware? Just asking because at a trade show a few months back they showed that F1 game, but it was running on PC hardward that was "simulating" the look of a PS3 game. So it might not be the same once it's on the PS3.

AFAIK console games are built around the poor resolution of a TV (640x480) whereas PC games can have three times that resolution.

Sadly I'm talking from a recent experience: Because there are no F1 updates I finally gave up on the PC and set everything up on a PS2 using F1 2005. The good news is that now I have the latest cars, teams, drivers and tracks. The bad news is that the graphics and sound don't even come close to the PC. Let alone the realism of the simulation.

 

Well the HD games (at 720p) run at 1280x720, which is very close to my monitor resolution (1280x960). 1080i games are 1920x1080 I THINK, but I'm not sure, and that's still interlaced. But very nice!

A PS2, even in this generation of consoles, isn't a very good representation of graphics! An Xbox will easily outdo a PS2, but we're yet to see how the PS3 vs X360 will come out.

And if you want the F1 game for PS3, remember it probably won't come out in North America until winter 2006 at the EARLIEST.

 

I just bought a Euro (PAL) PS2 and run it here in the States with a Euro version of F1. Runs just fine. Istanbul included.

I know, I saw that. All I'm saying is, that in this case I'll have to get a PS3 from Europe to play F1 in HD. Sounds like a plan.

Hopefully they will get the acceleration times a bit more accurate this time.

The tops speeds were pretty close in PGR2, though.

I recorded the following top speeds by going backwards along the Nurburgring's huge start straight, with a run up the hill from the F1 circuit and under the bridge.

Ferrari Enzo: 370km/h (was going slightly up hill at the end of the run... probably would have managed a few more kmph if it was completely level)

Koenigsegg CC V8S: 358kmph

Saleen S7: 338kmph

Porsche Carrera GT: 333kmph

Pagani Zonda S: 331kmph

Ford GT40: 330kmph

Ferrari F50: 327kmph

Ferrari F40: 325kmph

Ford GT: 323kmph

Porsche 911 993 GT2: 316kmph

Wasn't able to test the Speed 12, XJ220, Ascari KZ1, Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR or Porsche GT1 as I never played the game long enough to get access to them.

It was confirmed this week as a launch game. Should be on shelves sometime next week - before the console is even out. Kameo, another xbox 360 game, actually came out this week... good stuff

 

there are alot of new pictures of cars we havnt even thought of... like the Elfin MS8...

 

I'm dissapointed there will be no Bugatti Veyron.

Whenever I see a particular brand absent in one of these blockbuster video games, I see that as a public relations failure for the manufacturer.

Most of us did not wait until we were able to afford Ferraris to become enthusiasts (not that I own one). My passion for Ferrari began when I was about 15 or 16, and is stronger than ever now at 23. I don't think this is unique to me.

 

FWIW: I just confirmed my pre-order with my local EB Games - the game will be out tomorrow. EB Games dude told me to stop by any time after noon and pick it up. as of tomorrow, I'll have the game and only another 7 days until the console to play it on comes out

PS, that's what I hate about the project gotham series, Kudos. It's terrible, reminds me of drifting, which is also terrible. IMO of course.

 

Will there be an FXX?

 

AFAIK - no, but I don't know what the final car line-up is going to be...
