To the people using the "look how well they're taking losing" as validation of a conspiracy. What should they be doing? throwing hissy fits? *****ing and moaning? punching reporters? maybe telling kids to piss off who want their autographs? I mean, if they shouldn't be demonstrating good sportsmanship, what should they do when they lose?

Well, naturally the grapes were sour anyway. ;)

A chassis doesn't have to be that far off to make a big difference on track. There are a lot of trade-offs, and getting the right mix is art, not point-and-click. Look at the McLarens. Astounding lap times, but they hurt when it comes time to tailgate.

For Alonso's pass, I think Michael just felt that discretion was the better part of valor -- finish and retain 3rd, rather than chop and risk a DNF in a futile block.

I still think the Ferrari mill has the best midrange grunt out there, but the chassis is just not quite right -- and it was obvious that Alonso was the quicker car over a lap.

But I doubt the Renault could simply grunt past the Ferrari if Michael had been drag racing. What would have been the point? The Ferrari may have been able to keep up in a drag race down the straight, but then they'd have to turn -- game over.

Michael is in third, because he could keep up in a Minardi. He tends to make fewer mistakes. Getting the right line on a corner, 60 or 70 times in a row, isn't as easy as Michael makes it look. And he doesn't do stupid things like getting tangled up with a young hothead in a quicker car.

Sato isn't slow -- he just can't keep himself out of trouble. Michael can. Heck, Michael has even learned to steer clear of JPM. :D

Ferrari clearly held back all season long. No doubt. They do that because they are a not for profit organization that has only the well being of FIA and Bernie Ecclestone in mind. Luckily Ferrari SpA is not owned by Fiat, has no stakeholders, no sponsors and does not get any price/TV money from FIA based on its performance so it is easy for them to take this position. Furthermore marketing studies have proven that Ferrari car sales are in no way tied to the standings of the F1 team.

In other news: NASA confirmed that Earth is indeed flat and when you reach its end you fall off.

thanks Andreas, I'm glad you see it our way :D

I have never seen anything in person that proves the world is round :)

Pete, it's easier to believe they took a dive than the fact their car is crap, and I always look for the easy option, plus you have his fixation with Rubhino, I think he is a damn good driver but lets emotion get the better of him.

Hmmm, although when I think of Spa years ago when Coldheart lifted off and the Me109 pilot slammed him from behind there was some emotion in the pits shortly afterwards :D

Well there is nothing more to be said. If you cannot believe that Ferrari cannot make a mistake then you and Imperial should get married or something . And as a couple of posts have already explained the difference between a winning car and a cr@p car is only hundredth's of a second ... so very easy to drop back.

This thread is over for me ... but I'm sure (actually hoping) John you are just stirring the plot?

    Pete
Totally dumb founded ... and man some of you so called Ferrari supporters are too much for me. I guess love is blind ... but we have to remember that it's just a fncken car!
