For totally selfless contributions to humanity in general I'd have to agree with Tom above and say Mother Theresa. It's also hard to ignore the monumental contributions of Abraham Lincoln (and we share the same birth-date). For artistic contributions I'd have to say Frank Lloyd Wright. He was at least years if not decades or more ahead of his time. While it doesn't seem like he was the most congenial person (OK he was an a** by most accounts) his designs were pure genius. Oh, yeah and for just plain old genius you can't go wrong with the author of my signature below!!
