Is the only way to get a new 430 Spider today is paying 100k over MSRP ... or are there dealers who will work with you .

If you're not on the list that's where the market is now. So the answer is yes!

I thought this price may be falling ... had a friend buy the first one here in Miami and he was not on the list ... he paid 100K over but thought that was becuase he got one of the first ones and was not on the list . Is this markup the case in Europe or can people go into a Ferrari showroom and just buy one like any other car . The car seems to be reasonably priced until you factor in the extra 100 K for that amount of money you are getting close to a new Porsche CGT as the dealers are actually discounting this car right now .

These guys have a Triple Black one ( the color combo that would be my first choice ) http://www.emcars.com/index.php ................. but they will not budge on the price and is it not better to get the car from an authorized dealer if you can . This is very frustrating and kind of takes the fun out of getting the car . I guess the idea is to just get on the list and wait but by the time your name comes up Ferrari will be that much closer to a new and better model . Thanks for the information .

Yeah this is just a thing in the United States, if you go to most dealers in Europe you can get one pretty quickly (just as long as it takes for them to put the order in and build it, my dealer in Italy told me he can have one at my door spec'd for me in about 4 months time) I have heard from some friends who live in Germany that they have new ones ready to be bought off the showroom.

A new spider at MSRP built to order in 4 months in Europe !!!!!!!!!! so the 100K mark up is just a US thing ... ridicules .....

there is an abundance of cars available here in Europe at MSRP. For some reason there is only a 'frenzy' about the car in the US. In a few years, it will just be another used production Ferrari, and a newer, shinier model will be the flavour of the month. A friend just bought a new 430 coupe with 4K miles on it for approx. $5000 UNDER MSRP. 360's can be had for $65K with some miles on them.... I don't understand your market at all.....but seems a bit irrational.

It's because USA is under supplied.Ferrari should balance things out by taking some allocation from Europe and giving it to USA. Then you guys will be complaining instead of us.

Sorry, I can't agree. Buying a Spider off the showroom is only possible at ca. 30k to 40k euros over MSRP, at least in Germany and Switzerland. Red Spiders with black interior in standard configuration (no extras added!! Nothing!) are sold in the 210k€ range, that equals $260k. The Coupe is sold at MSRP off the showroom with ca. 5000 miles on the odo.
Your dealer in Italy must have special "friends" or must get special conditions: Any dealer in Germany, Switzerland and the dealers in Italy a friend asked won't get one until end of summer 2007 when ordered today.

I've been on the list and took delivery of my spider 8 weeks ago. A friend is going to buy a spider now and he really has problems to find one, that is not red and not priced more than 20k over MSRP.

I have to confirm the view of "chefcook" in the treath above.

I live in Belgium (Western Europe) and in august I ordered a F430 Spider F1 in the showroom and the delivery will be possible only in April 2007. This is a waiting period of 20 months. I believe this is simular to the delay in the US.

Maybe US citizens believe they are "mistreated" only because they live further away from Italy?

The prices in Belgium are, without options and excl. VAT and taxes :

    F430 6-speed : 120760 €
    F430 F1 : 127060 €
    F430 Spider 6S : 140260 €
    F430 Spider F1 : 146460 €
