    This is unreal!

I thought I had a buzzing noise from the front speakers at certain rpm's but it now (finally!) turns out it's a sort of wind noise at speeds over 50mph.

When I go fast it starts to buzz like a wasp right in the area of the rear view mirror. And it's LOUD! Last night when it was doing this stupid trick I wedged my fingers in between the targa and the front so I could touch the rubber seals, and by adding pressure in this area the sound went away. Can you believe this!?!

How can I now get rid of this sound for good? Lube it? Shove a glove in there? Grrrrrrrrrrr........ :(

A quick fix is spray some silicone on the seal. true fix is to replace the seal.

Yup, lube the seal. You might also check to see if you have any play in your latches

It's a new seal, and the latches are tight. Again, it's coming from the front.

Should I just use WD 40?

I would use a silicone spray lube, works on mine

Take a look at the two plastic pins on the front of the roof also, mine were badly worn so I replaced them, and that increased the tightness of the fit considerably.

My 308 buzzes from the front of the targa because the sun visor vibrates against the body at certain rpm's. I just lower it a little and all is well.

I also replaced those guide pins in front of the 308.

Made the fit WAY too tight and had to adjust alot to make it snug but not paint cracking tight.

    Much quieter now.

I'm all for having tight pins, but I'm not sure that's my problem.

Imagine if you will, you take two blades of grass and hold them together and blow through them, like when you were a kid. That's the buzzing sound I've got. Like a real wasp!

I'm gonna try the silicone idea first and let you know what happens, but thanks very much for the other ideas as well.

I had a buzzing sound in the same place in my '85 308. In my case it was the mirror itself. When it starts press on the mirror glass with your finger to see if it stops. If it's the morror, it comes apart easily. I put a very small piece of felt between the glass and mirror and it stopped it.

    FOUND IT!!!

    This is so stupid.

I pulled off the top and was dutifully beginning to treat the rubber with silicone when I saw the real reason for the noise. Some IDIOT, some TOOL, some TWIT left a piece of clear Scotch tape on the Targa, in the area of the noise. It was vertical and part of it was coming loose, so when the wind would pick up it must have been buzzing back and forth like a reed. I pulled it off and now the noise is gone.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I hope they help some others at least.

    Best!
    Wes
