Help me pick between some magazines!

    Ya, I didnt look at the subscription prices for EVO or Top Gear. Just the layout of the magazines, which I have to say are great in comparison to the stuff I've seen coming out of the US. I can't justify spending that much on a subscription to either of those unfortunatly.

    Still debating about the Economist. Thats the only high dollar one I'm considering.

    Whats the best *cheap* car rag?

    For news, the holy trinity of Wall Street Jounral, Financial Times, and Economist serves me well.

    I don't think I would ever subscribe to a car magazine...all the information is easily found online, plus none seem particularly outstanding to me. Go spend 20 minutes in a bookstore and you can find all the car reading you need.

    As for other, GQ always accompanies my copy of the Economist on plane flights. Some of what they say is crap, but some of it is interesting, and the ads are a great way to see whats in fashion.

    Robb Report and Wallpaper* are my main aspirational magazines...

    To say that the Economist is biased center-left is not quite right, IMO. It's a little tricker to peg their bias than that. They are pretty libertarian (but not American-style liberal) on social issues and are definitely internationalist, but of course preach free markets (but acknowledge the role of government to correct market inefficiencies). So, I suppose you could say they fall center-left of American politics, but they don't fall into the American liberal/Democrat role. I dunno...its hard to explain. Read a few issues and you'll pick it up pretty quickly. It really is the best news magazine out there. They actually make an effort to address real issues from all over the world, and also to try to educate you. So, instead of just saying whats happening in various economies, they'll try to tell you the economic theory behind it. It's really a quality publication.

    Leon, now that you know what everyone else likes, why don't you pick up copies of each and read them. Then you will know from first-hand experience which mags YOU actually prefer. My $.02
