Anyone got any tips on what a 308 is worth, I'd have thought around 10-15k depending on condition, any views on what to look for, or would a 328 be better?

Looking to just start collecting cars from now on rather than trading up all the time and losing money to stealerships!!!

Depends what model you're after, but I reckon 15-25k would be a better range.

    GT4 is perhaps 10-15k.

10-15k is very optimistic. You my find a LHD GTBi (or GT4) high miler in that range, but a decent RHD GTS QV with good docs and low miles is stil gonna cost you up in the high 20s, with the 328 variants costing about 5k more.

Thay are worth what you are prepared to pay, particularly as you intend to keep it, so the worth to someone else is irrelevant.

Every car is unique, relevant to condition, history, model, mileage etc.

As the early 308 spider, with carburettors, remains the only pure, raw, luscious sports car out there (and therefore the one to own), they are obviously going to be hard to come by.
This will be reflected in the artificially high price one would have to pay.

    cheers, d

Although this time of year there are a few bargains to be had if you don't mind getting your hands dirty

I;d say spot on Andrew - are you a trader by any chance? Only thing I'd add is that not all GTB/GTSis are "tired" - the tired versions of these are indeed in the £14k price band - clean ones are £17k upwards, FWIW.

Note that at the moment on ebay there've been several cheap 308s - including some QVs

Yes but only part time at the moment (role on mid december, when its full time)

Ebay does tend to throw a few curveballs on price, there are some really shaby cars that have been spuced up by the trade on one side and some good cars where the owner needs to sell on the other, as always a decent PPI by a specialist should be in order before parting with any money (if anybody's looking at a car in the north west and needs it ppi'ing we do provide a decent Fchat discount)

doesn't it just, think it's one for watching but maybe I'll just watch from the sidelines for a bit till I get to know the way the teams are playing, always a sensible thing to do, but when have I ever been sensible!!

Paul .... you MUST view ebay cars and check all is ok ie legal owner, documents, history, accessories etc. before you even see the car.
Always take a current 308 owner with you and allow him to test drive the car.
The ebay example above has no pics of the engine bay or the rear elevation .... using the above item as a bit of practice, send the guy a message asking why no pics, and would he be able to send you some (pref. high res.)
Good luck with the search, and if you need any help from uncle dave and his trusty stethoscope, shout.
    cheers, d

    Cheers Dave for the help.

Have asked him already for more pics etc and history.

I did actually just get my 964 off ebay and it wasn't viewed, but it turned out to be the ex chairman of the FOC, the late Frank Bott's car, and my goodness it's been well looked after, but the pics didn't do it justice there either so might wait and see what the pics are.

So I'll let you all in on what is what soon.
