Inevitably we all think of our own children when we read of such sad and unfair events and that is enough to move most of us to tears. Like everyone else on here, my thoughts are with your friend and their dear little daughter

    Richard,

My thoughts are with your friends family.

Could you explain what a "fit" is? Convulsion? Seizure?

Was she on any (anything eg. asprin) meds before this?

The American term for a fit is a seizure.

Just heard about 20 minutes ago...... Becky has come out of the coma and is trying to speak and remain consious..... of the other 12 cases within mainland UK, all have died within 3 days of coming off a ventilator...... Becky has now lasted 3 weeks.... miracle? who knows.... helped by the kind words, prayers and thoughts of my f-chat friends? who knows. But Ray loves you all for the well wishes you've sent.

Went to see Becky last Monday with Ray. How can you feel any less usefull when you see a 12 year old staring blankly at you (or not at all) and can't do anything about it. What did come out during the visit was her goal in life is to become a sucessful solicitor and buy her dad, Ray a Ferrari. I kid you not!

Told Ray to let her know, if she stays awake she can have mine. I'll let you know what happens. Richard.

My thoughts go out to Becky and her family. She sounds like a real fighter. I hope she continues to defy the Dr's.

Great news! There is no doubt that the brain is a remarkable thing and it's ability to perform majorly amazing feats of recovery is something that I have seen with my own eyes.

They (the Drs) said my sister would not make it through the night after her stroke 2 years ago, and even if she did she would permanently be in a wheelchair requiring 24\7 medical assistance. I'll shall hear their words when I meet her in Croydon for lunch with her and her three kids in 30 minutes time! If you didn't know, you wouldn't know, and she totally lost half of her brain.

The brain in indeed a remarkable thing! :)
