Got this wallpaper of an Ultima Can-Am. It's got me thinking. Anybody know anyone who's got one, issues and things I haven't considered? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Have a look on pistonheads, you will find quite a few owners there. (might even have their own section). 3 of them went on my last local pistonheads run, I didn't get a good look as they were too quick...lol
Saw a red one racing a cobra and an M roadster on the M40 about half a year ago, god did my jaw drop at the noise of them, awesome. Only reason I'd stay away is the kit car feel which I very much hate now. Suppose its like a Noble but way better in looks and performance.

Several different engines fitted to these, plus very varied specification/history/pricing if you look around. Finding the exact one you want can be tricky, unless you are not that fussy. Very few CAN AMs around. Im not sure I like the Chevy block characteristics, which most of these have. On the plus side, components I guess will be readily available and reasonably cheap when it comes to rebuild/tinker time. If you can work on it yourself, this is a great car to play with Im sure. I think its a car that demands attention and commitment, hence people getting out of them after they realise they want something more usable. If I had a second garage Id be tempted with either this or an older Radical.
Is there not one for sale at the moment in Top Marques that is being called some sort of Ferrari prototype. It may not be but it looks like one.
There's an FOC member who owns one, brought it along in July. To be different he put a 4.0 litre XJ8 engine in it. What's that, 300bhp? Fantastic looking and sounding piece of kit. Apparently Jaguar/Ford were most helpful. Worth a thought. (XJR lump perhaps for mental performance?)
Track down a guy call tuxmaan on Pistonheads. You'll find him in the Ultima bit or maybe the East Anglia section. He has a car that's very, very like that one.

I was thinking about getting one built new, with c. 500-600 horses. I want something useable (and fun) on the road, and occaisionally devastating on a circuit. Seems to fit the bill..... Will follow up on pistonheads - thanks.
