As of now all Ferrari Stores are owned by larger groups to the best of my knowledge. Only a few other exotic brands are small single owners. My Lamborghini dealership as well as some other Lambo stores, and a small few Lotus dealers are independant.

I've got a simillar (sp?) question, but don't really want to start a new topic about it. If someone wants to open a store specialized in, say, Official Ferrari merchandising, obviously the cost would be much, much smaller than a dealership, but are there any "hidden" costs? Do you need some sort of Ferrari license to sell those things?

    Steve,

I'm aware of the Maserati dealerships not being profitable and the money dealers lost with Maserati's. But my question is how hard is it to open one. I don't have the capital or desire to open one, just curiosity since we're on the topic.

    Regards,
    Kevin

Not sure...I am betting that as with all things Fiat a connection helps, but right now if you could make a case for how well you could do with one....I am sure they would listen.

Word is that with Alfa maybe coming back...again...Maserati and Alfa may present a better pair than Ferrari and Maserati did. I have often thought that a Maserati / Bentley store would be a good combo as well...maybe add Aston if you could...very diverse cars, but similar target market

You could easily sell Ferrari branded stuff with little issue. Ferrari out sources it all to other vendors,Mattel,Puma, etc etc. As long as you have a wholesale source for the stuff you could open up a store today. Look at all the Ferrari stuff sold near the factory...and last time I checked only 1 of those stores was owned or franchised by Ferrari.

I think that here in the USA it would be hard to make a living only selling Ferrari accessories. You could do it with parts and acc, but acc alone would be tough

    just my 2 cents

ALL dealers make a bigger mark up on parts and service than on the sale of the new car. Has nothing to do with F cars. Same applies to dealer service of your NSX.

I don't know if I can find it, but I had the numbers from an insurance study done probably 6 years ago. If I remember correctly, they priced out the parts, excluding paint and labor to assemble the vehicle. I think it was a Ford Mustang around $26K and to buy all the parts seperate if someone were to build the car themselves was somewhere in the vacinity of $110,000+.

Maserati and Bentley store would be a nice combination but I like Ferrari/Maserati more. I'm not sure how much Alfa will change Maserati but if it's greatly I'll probably stick to the models we have today.

From what I have gathered a Maserati dealership should be fairly easy to open. I think MOCF is doing okay, they usually have 7-10 Maserati's at any given time and their inventory is allways changing. My Maserati has been up there for less then two weeks and already I've been getting interested buyers at a price I thought would be impossible.

well if someone wants to open a ferrari dealership, open it in indianapolis, we dont have one just some nicer car retailers that have the occasional ferrari. heaven forbid the 12th largest city gets a damn ferrari or lambo dealership. i think there is enough money to support one in central indiana. especially just with service
