Who else manufactures tryres for the Mondial 8, other than Mitchelin? 240/55 VR390 are ~£240 a pop.

    Original tires, front & rear: 240/55 VR390
    On rim 18TR 390

    Mike.

Avon do them, I think Philjay50 has them on his car, or you could go on ebay and find a set of wheels from a volvo T5 with a 5x110 stud pattern and similar overal circumference

Why dont you go for Mondial T wheels? They are 7x16" and 8x16" with 205/55 front and 225/55 on the rear.

While in the long term non-metric wheels will be an easier proposition, I understand the Avons are a nice improvement over the TRXs.

    Mario,
Thanks, the car looks great too. I enquired about Avons but not available in my size so I guess I'll do the same as you.

Coker makes metrics as well, but not cheap!

When I looked extensively into this last year there was only ONE manufacturer of properly sized TRX tires for the Mondial in the world, and that was Coker. They bought the molds from Michelin who is DEFINITELY no longer making them. I talked to Michelin and Tire Rack and they both told me that Coker was the only source. Michelin (and maybe Avon) still make the TRX size for the 308, which is entirely different. The 240/55-390 on the Mondial is a really rare size that is not used by many cars. (The 308 uses a narrower 220/45-390 or something like that). In my pursuits, here in the USA, the Cokers were over $400 EACH which meant that replacing the wheels and tires was cheaper than replacing the tires. I bought a set of 348 wheels on eBay with decent Pirellis on them for $1K. The 348 wheels bolt right on as long as you get the bolts with the wheels. (The bolts used for the TRX wheels are too short.) Stack the TRX wheels up in the corner for purists, and drive with decent modern tires for half the price!

So Avon tires are not easy to find for the Mondial..

Can anyone help me locate a single 240 TRX tire? I need a new pair, and I will be using my new spare from up front. Some jerk cut off our Ferrari club parade on the highway, so we all locked em up and now I have flat spots...

How do I place an ad on ferrariads.com? It used to be easy to do

    Birdman,

What size tires do you have on the 348 wheels? Did you need shims? How close is the diameter to the originals i.e. is the spedo accurate? I've been reading a lot of threds on the web since I will need new tires soon for my '82 Mondial 8 and I'm more confused than ever. The rest of the threads were inconclusive on what actually fits. Some combinations rub, some are a different diameter, etc, etc, etc. Your's is the first definative statement I've read. Similar to you, I also found out that Coker is the only place you can get TRXs but they are now $470 each.

    Thanks
