Hi everybody¡¡ I have just bought my 430 and I need some help, I would like to know if CCB are better than standard, if it is worth and if it is difficult to change the breaks once the car is made, is it very expensive?. I have seen the steering wheel in carbon and looks very nice, do you recommend it? does it include the pieces that change the gears? I also would like if someone could recommend me basic and main cares for the cars. Do someone know something to protect the front of the car from small stones on the road? Thanks you very much for your help.
Sort of a confusing title and post. Are you concerned about a car "breaking" down or are you interested in information about "brakes" as in those pieces that stop the car?
I dont think CC brakes are worth the $. Too much $ & I dont think the brakes are durable enough for that kind of $
yes, the carbon pkg includes the shift levers. As for the front of the car, protect it with clear bra. 3M, etc... the same stuff that comes from factory on your wheel well and side intake edges.
I know someone that ordered the CCB on his SuperAmerica and he said that he won't ever order another Ferrari without the CCB. They work great and they look very cool. I think the carbon fiber cockpit option includes the paddles the trim around the gauges and the steering wheel. Deffinitely get a custom 3M clear bra installed by someone with experience. I think the carbon fiber cockpit option looks awesome. Here is a link to pictures of most of the carbon fiber options (page 1 and 2). http://photobucket.com/albums/b143/TexasMike430/10-1-05%20San%20Antonio%20Breakfast/
I was a passenger on track in a 430 with the carbon brakes this past weekend. The braking was awesome. Much better than I had experienced in my 360, which is my closest comparison point. However, you may want to check on maintenance costs. I've heard people talk of huge, almost unbelievable, $$ for a brake job.
WILLIAM H. and I share the same opinion, you can hit the pad a lil' earlier and save TONS of money! I posted on your other thread......... We're just "old school', WH.........CCF we don;t need no stinkin' CCF.... They do look way cool, but only Fcar nerds will notice! LOL!
Price out the replacement parts first before you order CC brakes on a Porsche or the same thing on a F-car. One of the main reasons that the Porsche GT2 depreciated so much in price is that the CC brake rotors are $11K (CDN $) apiece.....and you didn't misread that either.....that's $44K CDN for 4 rotors at retail pricing. They also wore out much faster than advertised.....something that has yet to be proven with the Ferrari brakes since these cars never get driven.
I've heard nothing but good things about carbon ceramic brakes from customers, however guys the track the cars a lot, especially the Porsche guys are in many cases switching back to standard metalic brakes because brakes, as you know are a wear items. The replacement costs of the CCB is still a higher multiple compared to increased service life multiple. In other words is still cheaper to burn through several more sets of metallic brakes for the same amount of mileage you get out the CCB. This consideration will change as CCB come down in price. (If they do)
they are REAL good -hot- but if not used in a hard situation on a regular base, it's a waist of money. I don't know many drivers who can say that they " need" them..it sure looks cool if you have the $. Roland F40LM
I hope that with the use of the CCB in the new 430 challenge season then the prices may decrease for road cars as well. If not, F challenge racing will become even more expensive.
