Just got the latest EXOTICAR catalog and they already list the CMC SWB in there. Given Exoticar's track record, that would mean it'll be available by spring. :)

Speaking for myself, I am currently collecting 1:43 for two reasons:

    - good choice of quality models, both of "mass market" appeal like Enzo and 250 GTO but also of individual cars and less known types (BBR and MR regulalrly have models of a specific chassis no)

    - space considerations; 1:43 takes less space than 1:18

That said, once in a while I do buy a 1:18 model, but only when it has exceptional value (e.g., the Exoto F1 range 312B, 312T, 312T4).

To me it seems that the CMG 250 GT SWB is a welcome addition to this list. And yes, please do a TdF as well....

Speaking of companies promising things they never deliver: The 1976 312T from Exoto is still not available or is it? They have announced that car literally years ago and AFAIK it is still a pipe dream.

I assume you talk about the T2 ? It appeared several times on ebay Germany at incredible quotes around two years ago, but then disappeared forever.

I mean the one with the low air intake. I have the one with the high scoop (75/76) and that was already costly, but I believe the one from 76 never was produced. I'd be delighted to find out otherwise as that would be a worthy chase, but I think it is a pipe dream.

Never seen that one, but also did not know that it was anounced.

One serie of cars that I am sure Exoto did anouce was Ferrari street cars (F40 and others) years ago and never seen those either....

I happen to have the full page here: It was on page 7 of their 2004 catalog: 1976 Ferrari 312 T2 with Niki Lauda or Clay Regazzoni. "Available soon" yeah right.

Yeah... Exoto has the same reputation as EXOTICAR, that they advertise new and upcoming 1:18 cars but always find a way to screw it up. This summer; Exoto mailed me their "Exototifosi" catalog with all new 1:18 Ferraris and of course I got all excited, and pre-ordered all the 1:18 Ferraris. I even called them to see which car will come out first, which they told me "the 250 GTO" and the car would be available in September for sure. Well September came and gone and no GTO! I called again and they told me "October"... Well October came and gone too... and NO GTO! So bottom line is... I have better chance of seeing Christ's second coming than seeing Exoto’s new line of Ferraris in my collection.

I’m very surprise that Exoto lasted this long… Upset your customers, you will not have a business to run. Exoto needs some “a better business plan” if they plan to "stay in business"!

Andreas; yes that's the T2 ( Lauda, Nurburgring 76, you know ). And it actually was out for a few months in 2003. I purchased two Exotos back then ( 312 T4 and 641/2 from a german seller as a bargain ( EUR 70,- each/ - buy it now price ) and wanted to complete this little collection with the T2. But it never was below EUR 150,--.
BTW, my first Exoto model, the 312 B, I purchased for DM 99,-- ( EUR 50,-- ) in 2000. You remember DM ( or DEM ) ? This was the currency we are still mourning about :)

    Best Regards

Incredible, at the same time Exoto was sold in the Netherlands for around 400 guilders (thats about 180 euro) and I was quite happy to pay that (compare Exoto F1 icon series with minichamps and you know why)

Well we had lots of discussions on FChat about Exoticar's practices and in general they're fine if you buy directly from their store or order something, that has been around for at least a year. They're very bad with delivering newly announced items. Same goes for Speedgear btw: I have placed orders for new stuff several times and it never got delivered and they never follow up on previous orders.

In the case of Exoto I have the feeling they're also testing the market by making early announcements: If there is enough response they'll go ahead to produce the model otherwise they'll bury the idea. Just my speculation.

Martin, I see I have to follow German ebay more closely. No matter the cost I really would like to have that car. And yes I remember die Deutschmark. Actually still have some laying around at home. I was too late to have it converted. Same goes for my bills of Francs Francais....

I bought the Exoto 312 T, T2 and T4 for around 130 euro each. Never knew the T2 was so hard to get? Still waiting for all those Ferraris promissed by Exoto. They are worth the waiting though. My wallet doesn't mind either.

The one I'm trully waiting for at the moment is not the CMC SWB but the BBR 375 Plus.

    Ciao, Peter

Thanks. Sorry to further hijack the 250 thread, but since I missed on the T2, did the 1/18 1961 Sharknose or the 1952 500 F2 ever make it to the markets in Europe? Those two have been announced by Exoto for years and never materialized.

After reading this thread, I was curious and checked Exoto's website for current and announced car models. Found exactly the same models as "coming soon" as one year ago....

Never, never believe what you read about Exoto's new model release dates! I've had two of their models, including a Ferrari 250GTO, on order for more than 3 1/2 years and still nothing! When I've e-mailed Exoto, I've been told to remain patient and it will have been worth the wait. Well, I have to tell you I think 3 1/2 years is being very patient! Meanwhile, their prices have skyrocketed although I've been told they will honor the prices quoted at the time of order. I guess I'll believe that when ,or if??, the model ever materializes.

I've seen pictures from a Toy fair of the 500 F2 in an unfinished state (not painted yet) and also pictures of a 312 T5 that looked ready to go but so far no sign of those on the market.

    Ciao, Peter

Wasn't the T5 the Sheckter/Villeneuve car? If so, that one is available from Exoto.

that one available is the T4 - championship car from 1979. The T5 is the successor, a complete failure in real btw.

That's a staggering 400 bucks. Gulp. Good thing models like this come out only once a year.

I have to say though, that actually the various opinions posted in this thread about the 250 SWB made me rethink my collection. I do see the point about collecting only top stuff. I haven't made up my mind yet when it comes to street cars, but I do know, that I definitely want to collect Ferrari race cars and particularly the F1 cars.
