Looking for factual and real info. Have called most of the ads, dealers, ebay etc. Does anyone have knowledge of one available right now that a dealer is looking to move? Need stripes......color not important.

    Thanks, A.J.

I dont know of one personally.. but once 2006's start getting delivered (est. first deliveries January 06), you'll be able to pick up a 2005 at MSRP with even more ease.

Here in Chicago there are only 2, maybe 3 dealers with an actual GT in their showroom (and now they are anticipating placing an 06 order), even with sites like fordgtprices.com, its hard to get these dealers to 'come around'. Both the dealers I know of here in Chicago with GT's are still asking 180's, and one of the vehicles is a recall (early vin). Most Dealer Owners here in Chicago kept the GT for themselves, one dealer that got 2 kept BOTH of them, gave the 2nd to his Son! So Chicago is a bad market if you're looking for a GT, So I dont have a lot of advice, sorry.

Thick headed dealers will still try to get over MSRP for their 1 or possibly 2 2006's, especially since most dealers will go ahead and order them on their own, most likely in Tungsten Silver, and obviously every dealer will be trying HARD to get 1 of the 200 limited 'Heritage' models. So I cant imagine anymore than a FEW lucky individuals being able to ACTUALLY ORDER a '2006'. Again, not because of supply, but because dealers that dropped the ball on their 2005's will be trying to cash in EARLY on the 2 new 2006 colors.

That site still does not account for cars kept by Dealer Owners, Never titled, and driven under Dealer Plates.

Here in Chicago about 90% of the dealers that got GT's, the Owner kept it, never titled it, put a dealer plate on it, and is driving it the same way dealers drive "demo" cars. These vehicles are not accounted for in the 'Public Sales Figures'.

Because of this, that site wants you to believe there are "Several Hundred" Ford GT's just 'Sitting' out there.. which is very untrue. Its not the sites fault though, they obviously can not put in the time to call 4,000 Dealers.. and to be honest, I dont think they'd get a straight answer from most of them, as to whether or not the Owner kept their GT.

The site is "Ignorant Information", not "Factual Information".. and I say that with complete respect.

Actually, www.FordGTprices.com (which, yes, is mine) is nothing but facts.

As of 5 minutes ago, there are 255 Ford GTs listed on Autotrader, and about 45 on eBay alone. That sounds like "hundreds."

It's certainly true that some Ford dealers will keep their GTs. But most won't. (In 1992 there were a lot of dealers that were going to keep their "collector's item" new Viper forever, too.)

The fact is, the prices are down to sticker or a few thousand dollars above, which means the cars are not "rare" or hard to find.

I believe discounts on 2005's by the end of the year are very likely, as the hundreds of dealers realize that the car they could have sold for $200K in the spring, or $180K in the summer, is now only worth $160K and is still dropping.

Remember, Ford is making about 200 more GTs each month, and they are selling less than that, even at the recent lower prices. Which means supply is increasing. And when that happens, only one thing can happen to prices: they go down.

Over 2000 have been manufactured, and only 1081 delivered to retail customers. (Yes, that does not include the dealer keeping their car, you are right).

Retail sales to date (from Ford's monthly sales reports):

    22 in Oct 2004, 63 in Nov 2004, 59 in Dec 2004, 7 in Jan 2005, 4 in Feb 2005, 44 in Mar 2005, 70 in Apr 2005, 117 in May 2005, 150 in June 2005, 91 in July 2005, 113 in August 2005, 176 in September 2005, 165 in October 2005.

Directionally, the trends represented by www.fordGTprices.com are spot on.

Well, after many calls and negotiations in the last week, I have come to a couple of conclusions. Red cars are available right now at MSRP. I was offered 3 different red/white stripe cars for the 156,745 MSRP. One dealer said he would come down 1k if I wrote the check that day. Other colors with stripes are available from 159k-163k, all day long. Yellow is commanding a higher #, upper 160's to low 170's. Most of the dealers bought their cars from other dealers at above MSRP, so they don't have alot of room on some cars. One dealer with a blue/white stripe showed me the paperwork where they bought the car from another dealer at 164k........he was willing to sell it at 162k right now. I was trying to get a non-red at MSRP. I feel that in 2-3 weeks, that will be possible.

    Good color AJ. Thanks.

I agree. Next 4 - 6 weeks should produce even more pricing pressure.

Ahhh the old invoice trick, did you happen to see the canceled check to verify that was not a MS Word document they made in the back room? Like Ferrari service records, you have to call to confirm any piece of paper is legitimate. Today everyone has access to computers and fonts to make a good looking bill of sale.

I have been around cars and dealerships along time. I know all the tricks. They are not losing money on the car, despite a 2k loss on pricing. It is common knowledge that a large amount of GT's have been purchased by other dealers at well above MSRP. One dealer in Georgia in fact has purchased 12 cars from other dealers, most when the market for them was red-hot, and all over the MSRP pricing.

The Ford dealer in Santa Barbara has a 2005 Black/Black no stripes and wants $245K for it. $91K "market adjustment" on the sticker. I asked a salesman if they were seriously trying to sell it and he said "It's yours for $245,000". What are they thinking?

I really like your site for the information it does supply.. I just feel you should post a disclaimer about no accountable facts regarding dealer owners keeping their car(s). Because that does make a considerable difference.

GT Fan, I've been following your posts regarding this matter, and I'm sure you have been keeping track of many GT Posts that I myself have made.. I also think you know that I am one of the lucky few that is actually getting the opportunity to 'Order' a 2006 GT, as I believe you are too.

Point is.. Two big facts we KNOW are 1. No one knows the actual number of Dealer Owners that kept a GT (could be 20, could be 500!). And 2. No matter how many Allocations are out there, 99.99% of Ford dealers getting an 06 will NOT let "You" Order it. They will choose to order whatever color they think is most popular, and if they cant sell it on their own, THEN they will decide "Ok, you can have it at MSRP". Which brings us back to why the GT ever sold for over MSRP anyways.. Supply/Demand, or "Waiting". If people need to wait another 5-6 months before Dealers understand they'll only get MSRP for their 2006's, then there will always be a select group of people willing to pay over msrp to have it NOW.

There is one more rare variable.. This includes Dealer Owners who sold a Friend their GT 'under the table' so that it could be driven with dealer plates, in order to avoid taxes and as a personal favor to the dealer owner, so that when the Friend wants to sell the car, the Dealer Owner can sell it as a never titled 'Owner Driven' vehicle (strange, but I know of 1 example).

I think there are tons of dealers who would order a car, but it takes work to find them.

Since the 2006 allocations are going mostly to the same dealers who got the 2005's, I would simply email EVERY SINGLE DEALER who has a car listed on eBay or Autotrader, tell them what you want, and provide your phone number.

I've heard that some dealers have turned down additional allocations of 2005 cars, as they are coming to realize that the cars are not that easy to sell, even at the current pricing.

I wonder if there will be a "market adjustment" on the service work as well?
I have dealt with enough dealers to say thats an easy yes.

"Sorry sir, we ordered parts for a mustang GT instead. Can you leave the car for another week? Seems that there parts on back order. "Here take this FOCUS as a loner!"

This is the new zr-1. Buy one in 15 years. Then it'll start to be worth something.

Got a call today from the local dealer.....they have sold 21 GT's to date. They have a Yellow/Black that they wanted 172k for last week. They offered me the car at the 157k MSRP. By the time I got there this afternoon, a guy was in financing, trading his Harley Davidson truck, Rouch Mustang, and '04 SRT Viper for the car. They told me I could have the Blue/White stripe that they had for the same price. I really wanted YELLOW. But the prices continue to get reasonable, on ALL colors....not just Red.
