I knew the exact number but it now escapes me. I can let you know for sure next week. I was up at FNA when the first 360's arrived and I remember standing with a few FNA staff and everyone saying "I hope they don't make many of these".
You said the magic number was 9. I did a search. Here is a link. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39970&page=2&highlight=sunroof+360
I had seen some where about 8-10 months ago that there were either 9 or 12 360's total in the US with sunroofs. I have seen about 6 listed in various areas in that 8-10 month time frame.
I tried doing a search becuase I thought I posted it earlier as well. That was the number I was told by someone at FNA. At the time I posted the number 9, he told me a dealer called him looking for a number and he called someone at the factory. They couldn't give him an exact number but 9 was what he told me. I agree, I've seen a few for sale so maybe his number of 9 was off a bit. Like I said, as soon as the cars arrived in Englewood Cliffs to be preped (before Maser all cars were preped at Englewood), EVERYONE said what a mistake. I'm gonna be at FNA next week for a meeting so I'll ask around again.
I seriously looked at a car that had the option, and was told by friends in the business it was the kiss of death for resale. I love skylights, but I guess the shape, and the fact that it comes out instead of retracting into a roof cavity, makes them unpopular. Cars with the option are often for sale for a very long time.
They have one at Ferrari/Maserati of Ontario. I didn't know that the option was THAT rare - and for good reason!
maybe the reason we see so many is that dealers are having trouble moving them???? When you see it in person, in or out it, looks like the hatch to a sub or tank.
I have two very close friends with sunroofs in their 360 and they enjoy them thoroughly. The leather is exdended through the roof line and when the sun is out..you have it shining through. I only noticed maybe 1 - 1.5 inches of lost headroom and that is it. IMHO - i don't hink it detracts from the car..or it's value.
I had a chance to buy one with a Sunroof and didn't because it just didn't sit right with me either. Did they offer it all through the 360 Production run? A GTS I think would have looked great on the car though.
would have looked real cool, if i were real good with photoshop id try and put one togehter, alas my skills are nowhere near that...
My 360 has one, I like it. (I am one of Lawdogs friends) If I could figure out how to downsize the pics to this site I would post some for you. I like the targa top feel, and this is the closest I could get. The interior handle looks like a commercial grade freezer handle. The whole top weighs about 5 pounds. And fits in a fake leather garmet type of bag that has little tabs that pop into the rear leather part of the car behind the seats. Can you imagine if I lost the bag or wanted a new one it would probably cost more than the top itself! -Armen
I would really like to have one on my yellow 360! I dont think that it looks ugly - neither in open nor closed position. Would it be possible to fix such a detachable Ferrari roof to an existing car?
i am not sure about the shape but i kindda like it and wouldn't mind to have it on my 360. btw, john, "it comes out"....you mean one has to physically remove it completely away from the car (like a targa top)?
