as lancia decided to use a ferrari engine in its cars (8.32), would it be possible to use this engine in a ferrari? so lets say your engine lets go and its going to be thousands to rebuild, it may be financially viable that you could buy a lancia and use the engine out of it? i hope this makes sense? Cheers, Tony.
Well, in the words of Enzo Ferrari himself: "If you buy a Ferrari, you buy the engine. The car comes free" Now, what would happen if you'd replace the Ferrari-engine with a Lancia-engine. Would your car still be a Ferrari?
they WERE Ferrari engines, but they had less power than in the 328 due to driveablity and to be suitable to the character of a sedan. Replacement is difficult if not next to impossible because the engine block is a completely different casting. Best Regards from Germany Martin
The engine in the Lancia Thema 8.32 was a modified version of the 328 engine built in the Ducati factory. The main difference was that it had a 90deg crank instead of a 180deg crank, so is very different in character and sound to the Ferrari version. I had thought about replacing my 2 litre V8 with an engine from a Thema 8.32 but when I looked into it, it worked out cheaper to just buy a 308 GT4.
This question has come up before and I think it was answered that the Lancia engine wouldn't go into the 308/328 .If you do a search the reasons were explained
