Last few weeks, the heater in the Mondial has been working like a champ (actually, I've been surprised at just how hot the air coming from the heater gets!) In any event, I put the top up tonight, and went for a ride. Along the way, I noticed the heater air was noticeably cooler than normal, and I also noticed a consistent clicking coming from in front of the passenger seat. After I was able to locate the area from which the sound was coming, I isolated it to the black box in the photo (if it doesn't show up, its a box located outboard of the a/c dryer and above where the heater hoses enter the front under-hood area. - It is bolted to the firewall, and it connected by what appears to be a multi-wire lead with one connector).......can anyone identify this device for me, and can anyone advise me on what might be going on with it / if it's related to my heater issue......?

    Thanks

That looks to be Ferrari part #120672, Rilevatore di percorso, or the speedometer sensor (US-Aus). It's on page Tav. 126 in my parts book.

    Thanks.

That's strange. With the heater on, the black box has a consistent clicking. When I turn the heater off, the box stops clicking. Knowing Ferrari, they're probably somehow connected.....any other ideas from anyone or are the two issues coincidental, but separate?

Anyone have an idea on what might be causing a clicking noise to come from this box wheh the heater (A/E) switch is depressed?

I have the same noise on my 88 mondial. Seems to occur only when the fan is on full high.

Could it be somewhere else besides that part? The thermostatically controlled water flow electrovalve is right below the speedo sensor on the passenger side and mine has clicked ever since I remember unless the temp know was set full one way or another, and even then it would sometimes.
check the on-line parts manual at FChat sponsor Ferrari-UK for drawings.
    Good luck!

As I understand the system, the heater valve is electrically controlled. The valve is open (will allow hot water to circulate) when there is no power in the circuit. The valve is closed when energized. So if the heat is fully on or fully off, you would not hear any clicking as there is either constant power or no power to the valve. When the termostat is set in between, it would make sense that the valve would receive intermittent power (clicking on and off) as it's regulating the flow of water through the heater coil.

    Hello
I have written a instruction for this well-known problem of the Mondial on how to solve the problem. (ventilation controller only full on, or off)
I did it in German because I'm Swiss. Hope that helps because of the pictures anyway.
    I wish you success.
