This shot seems to be the only one that looks back on the debris/impact area. The puzzling thing is it's not clear what he hit. The side of the road are shrubs, not trees. There are steel posts along the road, but it doesn't look like any were bent/hit. Maybe the rest of the tub and the major impact area is behind the ambulance where the people are standing? http://www.forumdellecapre.com/public/Data/danilo996/2005112191613_sidoli%204.jpg
I never said he was either/or, I just said that we don't know who he is and used examples of a type of person who may not receive the same sympathy in death. As it sits now, I don't have the information to fill in the gaps here and I don't ASSuME to. And let's get it straight, a "victim" is a person who suffers or dies through no fault of their own. This accident ultimately stems from a choice he made.
The level of destruction of the vehicle is troubling, but anything can be destroyed when an immovable object is involved, which I hope is true in this case for the safety of other Enzo drivers. Steel has a hard time with trees, too. Image Unavailable, Please Login
While like some on here I do agree that the dead should be respected, but there aslo is the fact that when you drive like that you know the consequences of a mistake. Its called excepted risk. He accept the potential risk of wrapping his car around a pole or wall or whatever. I undertake and accept the same risk if I do something like this. Take a car on the street above 100-120, you are taking a huge risk, and he paid for it. It might not have been his fault, but would he have died if he was doing the posted speed limit....I dont know but I would guess not. Either way he knew what he was doing and what dangers go along with it. It is very sad he died, but also be thankful he didnt take anyone else with him. If this was me, I would like to think that people who know me would know I died happy doing something I love....driving. If I died like this, I would be appreciative that people were trying to decipher why I died and whether something on the car failed. I have seen nothing, save maybe one comment, that disrespects this man. The man chose to act in this manner, he paid for it. Its sad but it happened. Mark
Actually, it does look like there is a pole resting on the trees to the left behind a vehicle. Also, you can see leaves and green debris on the road which indicates he may have bounced off trees.
Mr. G. I walked the site the site of Dahr's incident, and the only similarity I see with this incident is the lack of rubber skid marks, indicating airborne travel for quite a distance, once traction and control was lost.....before final impact. Those do not look like shrubbery on the left of the photo, more like vine covered rock, or wall structure...note the greenery in the street for the final travel distance.. Once these things loose ground effects and fly, even worse...roll, and it'd get nasty, pretty quickly. You drive yours safely, Sir. And to the rest, Good night, don't forget your prayers! Myself, I grant all deceased the same basic courtesies.....they are only slightly ahead of us, you know.......
Damn'! RIP... condoleances to the family of the driver... Don't forget, we ALL can be involved in a crash someday...! Shocking to see an Enzo turning into this mess too!
********. Those brazilian pictures really, really moved me. Everyone for god's sake, be careful out there on the roads...
I agree. But, we all need to have a reality check every now and then, don't we? Modern sports cars are so fast and so good that it is very easy to lose sight of what you are doing. In a Maranello, just shifting moderately to 4th gear puts you over the ton, in a heartbeat. I can't imagine driving an Enzo with, what, 100 more horse power is like. I certainly can't imagine how hard you have to be driving to cut an Enzo in half. Back in the day, doing 100 mph in anything, much less those idiots who rode Brit bikes that will remain nameless..., you felt like you were doing 2,000 mph. Today, however, it is like driving grandma to church. Me, I'm headed for the track. I'm going to cut my street driving to minimum necessary. If you do see me going fast on the road it will be out of the corner of your eye in some place far, far, away from everybody. And, folks, please be careful out there. Dale
Ok, I've received several reports that post number 100 in this thread is inappropriate and/or disturbing. I have made the warning larger and bolder but have just received another report regarding inappropriate images being posted on F-Chat. First of all, the images are not posted on F-Chat, there are only links to those images. Secondly, there is ample warning that the material is graphic and might not be appropriate for everyone. If you are disturbed by images of corpses, do not click on those links! Please, stop reporting the post, as I see no reason to delete it.
In the second picture of this thread, doesn't the guy in the raincoat in front of the Alfa look like Enzo Ferrari himself. Odd.
Any chance to repost the pictures, mayb eon imageshack? I'm just curious to see how dreadful thia looked immideatley after. Perhaps it will convery a great sense of seriousness about speed thrills but it kills.
I wish I would have seen this earlier..... Pretty serious stuff there MIKE HUNT!!!! As for the guy, I'm glad he's dead. At least he didn't hit ME!
It's really sad to see those pics. Speed is really dangerous, sometimes when I am on a car I think I'm invincible, but even not in an Enzo CGT or any other super car you are safe of what speed can do to you. My condolences for the family of the driver. RIP. Take care all of you and drive carefully. I have a Power point file with the Images of the Brazilian 355 crash if somebody wants it I can send you an email. But as said before, IT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE!!!!!! Is more hard than you think.
