Give the complimetns to Dino Scuderia of this forum... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73944
Is that the same car? If it is, it's 1/24 not 1/18, correct? And, it based of the Tamiya version and not Hotwheels, correct?
He may have or may not have been, I don't know. But before there was any more confusion, I wanted to make sure Dino Scuderia recieved the credit he deserves for his great work. If you look closely, it is clearly the same car. And in the original thread Dino tells what kit it was based off of, and it's surely not a die-cast Hot Wheels 1/18.
Well, the hood vents are the same. The front towhook is the same. The "scoops" by the door handles are the same... Hmm.....
Erm, are you really going to directly rip off my design/work and then show it off? I noticed the rear fender in your pic is the first design I had on mine but as you can see in my final version it's changed....so you obviously studied my progress pics. Waiting anxiously for your reply.
Dino, is that a picture that you took of your model, or is he building a knock off of your car? Either way it's very uncool.
It could be some trickery with a photo program, but I think he really did knock my car off in 1/18 scale, yes very uncool.
As a moderator -- and someone did report this thread -- I think this should be discussed and clarified here. It will be interesting to get both sides. If someone does something "wrong", our community here doesn't let anyone get away with that kind of behaviour for long. On the other hand, making your own version of something for your personal use isn't wrong in itself, as long as you don't claim it as your own design. For example, lots of folks have Schumacher-replica painted racing helmets and enjoy them for their design, even if they didn't design them. Ricers try to duplicate Fast-And-Furious designs and enjoy them, though they don't claim them as their own. Let's see how the discussion develops.
I think the fact that he DIDN'T say that he got the idea off Dino is enough. He didn't say anything. He CLEARLY copied Dino's design, which he (Dino) put a lot of time and effort into and shared the pics with us because he was proud (and so he should be) of it. This guy took advantage of Dinos trust and completely ripped off his design THEN has the nerve to post it here. Just my .02
Another thing that concerns me is the possibility that he's attempting to peddle an F50GT model to another one of our avid collectors in the "F50GT MDS" thread. In slk's defense, it could be completely legit and I'm 100% off-base here, but being involved in a thread like this certainly casts a shadow of suspicion on his overall character... JMHO...
^ Yes, i agree that that could be legit. Heck, i was really impressed with his FXX/Enzo GT transkits but ripping off someone elses design just isn't right. I'd also be interested to see what he edited out of his post. It says he edited it 20mins after he posted it
he never says anything about ripping anybody off, he only shows the progress on his model, if i was dino i would be proud that people are trying to build models like me, he also didnt take credit for the design, there are no words other than "hotwheels based" if he was taking credit for it he would say "look at my design" which he did not, he simply just showed pictures of a model he was building, hell i build models all the time that other people designed
Honestly making his "own" 612 racer is not so wrong. I'm sure he saw Dino's and loved it, hence he wanted his own....it's common practice. BUT his mistake was not saying something in the regard to him "borrowing" Dino's ideas to make his own....just my opinion though. Whatever the case, it's to bad these two couldn't work together. They both seem very talanted.
one other thing, maybe he got this picture on the internet and is showing it on here because he thought it was interesting what was being done, and didnt realize it was from dino, and he was just sharing something he found on the internet
Dino's 1/24 612GTC is a great job. In fact, similar to most diecast collectors, I don't like to make and collect 1/24 plastic model. So, based on a 1/18 Hotwheels 612, I asked my friends who modified the model and build this car. Hopefully, this can resolve all you guy's question. It is not a copy and edit photos. The car is still in final modification to make everything alright before painting. After painting of it, I will post up some more photos with my 1/18 and 1/12 F50 GT testcar besides. Then, you ppl will know this is not a 1/24, but in 1/18. As the car is some attractive, now I am thinking to convert a 1/14 ABC Brianza Ferrari 612 to a 612 GTC. All resin parts are worked and customized by ourselves. We designed another rim set for this model. The interior is come from a 1/18 AutoArt R34 Calsonic base. In order to make it fit for the model, we changed the whole base of the Hotwheels 612. So, only the 4 plastic tires and 2 clear light cover from original model are used. Whole car is changed. Just like the 1/24 FXX and Enzo GTC 2005, you guys will see more strange models.
You are missing the point here. The point everyone is getting at is not about the scale of your model, but rather you taking Dino's idea of design and not giving credit to him. Obviously, this car does not exist in real life and therefore the design itself purely came from Dino. The 1/18 you are making right now looks almost identical to his 1/24. However, you still did not admit that you are copying his design even in your reply and that is extremely uncool. I think you owe him an apology to say the least.
