I have a 97 355 Spyder. The last three years rubber coated interior parts such as the door handle and ash tray cover etc have been demonstrating reversion. Reversion is where rubber becomes tacky and somewhat gooey, ie reverts back to its pre cured state.

The vehicle does not sit out in the sun and my garage is not extremely hot. Extreme heat, UV rays or poor compounding usually cause these type of problems.

I am seeking suggestions to resolve this phenomena.

Dennis - Welcome to Ferrari Chat - and you came to the right place for all information regarding Ferrari's. This site will save you thousands of dollars and time :)

And you are not alone. Most 355's (all years) do the same thing. There have been numerous Technical Q&A posts on the best way to remove, what to re-coat, etc. on these pieces.

Here are a few: and plenty of discussion links within each of these:

    Thanks Mike.

Thanks for welcoming me to the board. I have several questions and hopefully through the search feature I can find some suitable answers.

I read through the threads you posted and the reversion does appear to be a common issue. Replacing the screen print on the console panels seem to everybody's major issue. The Lexan appears to be a potential fix. The only cleaner I used was on the car was windex. Apparently it plasticized the rubber.

I also have a house on Catawba by Port Clinton. I see you live in Cincinnati.

Just to make sure - my name is actually Rich :) Screen Name and signature... But you can call me Mike.

Windex is bad for the plastic stuff - so is about everything else outside of just plain water - thus about 60% of the 355's have the issue.

I used to go up to Port Clinton all the time - family had a boat on Lake Erie as a Kid.

I also have a place in southern Florida (Marathon Key) - We probably cross paths a lot... Going down next week to do some clean up and find out if they are going to replace our roof (just some lost tiles - but enough they want to take a closer look).

We have boated to Marathon from Miami. Stayed at Duck Key last February and also went to Little Palm Island on the same trip. We are thinking about doing it again this year if we elect for the hassle of trailering the boat across the alley.

We were watching the news and a segment came on about Mike Wallace, ergo the Mike.
