The majority of PeterS posts are informative and interesting. He has contributed greatly to B&I. I'm glad it is only a temp ban. OTOH, he is a very experienced user who knows the rules. He should have probably considered the results of spamming 16 different sub-forums. Maybe even asked permission from the mods before doing it? A 24-hr shutdown of the account was probably appropriate, and the most effective way to end the spamming. I don't think the mods have it in for him or anything like that, my guess is that most see his presence as a benign one. If he was on super-secret double probation, he would have been (a) banned longer for this offense, or (b) banned permanently a few months ago when he basically dared them to do so.
Just making sure you stay in the lime light that you desire. Oh, btw, to finish my point. The whole go **** yourself, follows in line with your Mentor comment. I can smell a go **** yourself comment from this coast.
Bruce, Take your meds. Everyone else, Relax! I am a huge proponent of silly threads, and in particular, silly threads on Friday. That being said, this is one of the more idiotic arguments I've seen in a while. PeterS broke a rule and he got a temp ban. Who cares how good his intentions were while breaking the rule. He broke it and he got the penalty. He's not gone forever! It's temporary. If I got banned for something that I did, I would hope that my friends (Bruce, Pat, Carbon, Dave etc, etc.) wouldn't start a thread making a big frigging deal about it just because I'm a decent guy. I'd take my ban like a big boy and move on. Lighten up ya prick bastards!
Bruce and everyone else, chill out, it isn't a big deal. Read the other thread. Wayne did the right thing banning him to stop the flood of threads that was already at 16+. He then emailed Peter offline to discuss things. The ban is only a day, but once Peter realizes what he did wrong, then Wayne may choose to lift it. The ban was just a stop measure.
HEY ROB I UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM WHAT ABOUT THE THREAD ABOUT THE CAR SOME WEEKS AGO THAT POSTED 15X OR MORE ABOUT THE STOLEN 355?? RIGHT CHURCH, WRONG PEW???? BRUCE
I wasn't involved with that, didn't even read the thread. Were there multiple ones posted? Some things are controversial and grey, but copying a thread to multiple forums is pretty black and white and the action to take. Mods usually jump on those pretty quick because they are so obvious. Heck, I even busted John H's chops when he copied 8-10 threads for the FQC. They are a potential sponsor, very supportive of FerrariChat.com, run one of the best Ferrari events in the world, and John could buy me a million times over. I don't care if you are John, Peter, my mom, or a real troll. Just no need to copy threads, maybe 2 forums at most.
I have to admit I would have banned him too in my corner of Cyber Space. And for more than one day! That (**** that Peter did.) was just dumb!
The one-day ban was only to stop him from posting faster than we could delete. After that, I sent Peter an email and left it up to Rob to handle. Sounds like everything has been settled and Peter's ban has been lifted so... WHAT'S UP WITH THIS SILLY-ASS THREAD? CAN'T YOU SEE THERE'S ALREADY ANOTHER SILLY-ASS THREAD ON THIS SILLY-ASS TOPIC? ROB EVEN GAVE YOU A NICE LITTLE POLL WITH WHICH YOU COULD VOICE YOUR SILLY-ASS OPINION. JUST WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH FOR YA, HUH, SWEETCHEEKS? HAD TO START ONE OF YOUR OWN, HUH? PM SYSTEM NOT WORKING IN CONJUNCTION WITH YOUR BROKEN CAPS-LOCK BUTTON? WELL, I GOT YOUR SILLY-ASS THREAD RIGHT HERE!
Bruce, I'll step in here also..........since you want many opinions. I read Peters thread and thought it was a respectable topic and not spam in anyway shape or form. Though, I agree, as I feel Peter will, that posting to 16 different forums is excessive and a one day ban is not unreasonable. Simple honest mistake and I don't think Wayne is to blame. The mods are here for a reason and I'm quite certain had anyone else done it they would have suffered the same or worse fate. Calm down, as I hope Peter is laughing about it now........... Peter - See ya tomorrow. One more thing - When an Fcar is stolen, all bets are off and getting the word out fast is essential. Cross posting the first minute it happens would be A O K w/me. The day after the mods could just close them down with a link to the primary thread...... I really hope that guy gets his challenge car back safe and sound.
I should have tagged up with Rob prior to listing the threads in all of the regional sections. That was my mistake. Receiving a ban without at least an email or a PM threatening to do so is objective(for a member with 5K+ posts). The spirit of the thread was actually to help out others. Though it does benefit my company, I get more satisfaction out of helping others, as additional income from my marketing ideas will always come if I can do something good for others. With me, it's a karma thing. Now.......Who wants a damn job?
