you have 956 posts here and you dont know what wide open throttle is? Being 18 is not an excuse, any genuine gearhead knows that by 16. You may want to find a new hobby. -doesnt matter now anyway, by the time you can buy a fast car it will be electric hybrid thingy anyway, and it will be "maimum kilowwat load" or something like it
This is an automotive term. Wide open throttle is when you are standing at the edge of a large field being strangled. A closed throttle is when you are in your garage being strangled - very different indeed and please, lets not hijack the thread. Now, you may think this wide open throttle business isnt for you, but if you drive long enough and hard enough in the right car then yes, there is one in your future. All it takes is an interstate through an agricultural area and a spot of road rage and BANG! Before you know it the Chevy truck you cut off and middle fingered is parked six inches into your front bumper and you are having a spot of wide open throttle. Enjoy the view. The next one will be of a white tunnel. Want to know what double de clutch means?

Thanks to the people who answered me! Hey 15 posts, search my 959 posts and tell me exactly where I said I was a gearhead. I know a lot about Ferrari's, maybe not how they work, but how they perform and look, and I love Ferrari's, which is why I'm on Ferrarichat.com not gearheadchat.com
This is also when the computer is having the injectors squirting the maximum amount of fuel, the timing is fully advanced, and other inputs to the computer are ignored. Usually there is a switch of some kind that gets made to tell the computer you are all the way on it........ PTL
Yea nothing like flaming someone while your title is still rookie. Stick around a while, make friends not enemies and you will really love this place. If you keep attacking people and making an ass of yourself you will find yourself recieving it more than you can dish it out.
The term "throttle" may not have appeared very self explanatory as it isn't used commonly now-adays. Like "Pedal to the metal" Modern equivalents? Flat out, On full boost, hammered, fully torqued..any more?
Back in the day we used to remove the "governor" from our minibike engines. Then we could have truly wide open throttle.
webby, i have twice as many posts...and almost twice your age but honestly, i had no idea what "wide open throttle is" until now. just to prove you can never stop learning....
For those who drive trains: Balls to the wall. The balls on the ends of the rotating speed governor that move outwards towards the wall when the throttle is WO. Always remember what happened to Casey when he weighted down his balls...
