No it isn't. I've seen the shields on Mustangs too. By your logic the casual observer would see the shield on a Mustang and say "nice Ferrari."

I have a shield on my lincoln side quarter window to show Im a fan (its only about 2" tall). As far as being on a ferrari, they only belong there if the factory put them there, particularly if its something like a 250 series car or there abouts. Seeing them on 360's for example bothers me because of what they used to mean and how that practice was lost to selling out in a sense and sticking them on for the wow factor and no other reason. I explained once to my girlfriend what they were and why and when we saw some on a newer f-car, she asked me whay they were there and that they shouldnt be, I couldnt believe my ears, Ive brain washed her already, lol.

I think shields look good on 550s. What makes me paranoid is driving without
a front lic plate. I always think i'll get pulled over. That and a flat tire. Maybe
i'll concentrate on how nice my after market shields look, then I won't worry about other things.

When I got my F355 spider, I thought it looked great. I then saw other 355's and 348's with shields and thought they were a great accent. Still not sure, I bought magnetic shields for a "before and after comparison". In my humble opinion, the shields looked better. The magnets were a nice experiment, now I have Yoshi's shields and have no regrets.....they look terrific and I just saw a 355 without and it definitely seemed like something was missing!!!!

    Exactly.

I'm not sure why your would put a Ferrari sheild on anything but a Ferrari or a kit car you are trying to pass off as a real Ferrari however.

As to answer the question if people are so vain as to want to advertise they have a Ferrari the anser is yes yes and yes. I always laugh at the "I bought not because its a Ferrari but because I love the car", like if Kia made the car they'd still be all over it. The same person will then, in another thread will discuss which Ferrari they should purchase next, which signifies to me at least, that they are looking to stay in the group rather than find their next dream car.

As always, you are free to disagree.

I bought mine because it is a ferrari, thought I would love it because of what it is and what it can do and I was right so I love it because its a ferrari and a great car...for the most part and sometimes I hate the thing. Only bought it for myself, not for others to approve of. Now that I think of it, most people wouldnt approve anyway, its a negative thing to most people so i have to put up with the crap to own one.

If people dont recognize the car as being Ferrari....trust me...they arent going to have a clue what the shield and the "S/F" means. It's not like the shield screams "I AM FERRARI!" and the Ferrari badge on the hood is rather subtle.

Around here, it wouldn't surprise me if they did!!!!

I saw one on a Jeep Cherokee a couple weeks ago! I see them on a lot of SUVs!! I just laugh and go on my way.

I'm not a very big fan of them on Ferraris but seeing them on "non-Ferraris" is a joke!

I don't count what Newman did because I "get it" and think I would if I spotted it in traffic too.

    Thanks.
    Den.

Sheilds=poseur, unless its on a really serious older car ie frim the 50's. Me I prefer my ferraris not red. If you really want to drive and enjoy, a discreet color and exhaust is the way to go.

The Nero (Yoshi) shields are FANTASTIC. I kid you not... you will NOT be disappointed. They're like factory shields, just thinner.

Today, I think the shields are apart of the whole Ferrari marketing and for owners to announce that they have a Ferrari.

Unless you are part of the racing team......its all for show.............no go. Looks good at the valet stand. But if you like 'em, get 'em.
