Agreed. It may only be 2.5 hours from Heidleberg to Konstanz, but you've got another 6 or 7 hours driving after that. Andrea wants to leave 8 on sunday morning so we have a relaxed afternoon in St Margherita and not arrive tired at 11 at night with no restaurants open.
Great! Leaving early on sundaymorning is a good idea. The whole idea is to enjoy Italy as much as we can!
imon, well, no problem to me to drive direct on Saturday to Arbon (thanks for the invitation, count me in with 1 sleeping bag ) Just thought about our mud island friends - its a 12 hours trip from UK to Arbon.....anyway, I know they take it the hard way
You can do Calais to arbon in 8 hours in a FIAT Punto. I know Also from Brugge to Arbon in about 8-9. Its only 12 hours if you spend too long at Wolfgangs house
OK so it's Arbon/Constnace on Saturday, I'll e-mail Andrea and ask him to book a hotel, Kevan for you too? Ton, I will let you know once we have booked the Tunnel so we know the time we are near Liege, then are we going to go via Heidelberg for Wolfgang to join the convoy? I also need to talk ot Marc to see if he would liek ot join us, will let you know
Again, I think you guys should plan the best route for yourselves. Wolfgang doesn't have very far to drive and can join up with you. You guys have the longest journey and it makes no sense that you should go out of your way.
That's perfect Mark. We are looking forward to joining your group near Liege. We can pick up Wolfgang along the way and don't lose too much time. We should be in Arbon at a reasonable time. It might be of some help if Andrea or Simon can book us in a nice hotel for that night.
I think Andrea was thinking of booking you in the Römerhof. Very nice hotel built on the ancient roman walls. Another possibility, with a great bar and restaurant is the Frohsinn. It has its own brewery....but that might be a bit dangerous the night before a long drive http://www.frohsinn-arbon.ch/ http://www.gasthausroemerhof.ch/main.html
Back again - I think I'll just go with the flow, go away for a few hours and the plans have changed 6 times! - Mark just let me know when its all sorted Seriously let me know when you plan to book the tunnel Mark and I'll make sure we get the same one. Apart from that obviously need to book same Sat. night hotel - which one is the lovely one - is someone doing a block booking for us all?
Kevan Andrea has offered to book us on, I wasn't thinking, I meant the 2nd one http://www.gasthausroemerhof.ch/main.html Will let you know on the tunnel, am waiting to hear from Marc Hedge too
