I think the Internet as a whole, mimicking the world, actually, has become a very scary place....... Sad to see.........I ducked a public LogIn for that very reason.. I also have actually DRASTICALLY curtailed the public side of my Fcar ownership...there is just too much meanness and jealosy out there, to expose myself to it.... Pretty sad......as I don't think I've intentionally aggravated ANYONE here or out on the streets....it's just random destruction and havoc, wrought by small people who obviously have no soul, nor care! It boggles the rational mind, but I have been recently reminded (a close friend) of the hazards of unstable people.....his son took anything he could lay hands on, for a 'fix'.
Rob has a tough road here. Having the forum open helps with the membership numbers that drives sponsors coming on board. Closing it to some degree to keep the trolls and trouble makers out only helps to limit his efforts.
Welcome to the fish bowl called the net. I'd be willing to guarantee that most of these people have just gone underground here i.e. an anonymous user name. If you're being targeted than that may be the only answer. There's some sick people out there so you just have to be savy.

And how would you prevent people from falsely filling out the information and their use of a gift card w/ a Visa number instead of their personal credit card? You would have to do a mail verification similar to Paypal's "confirmed" status. Of course the trick to get around the Paypal confirmation is to use someone else's address and fill out a forwarding card at the post office. For example: You tell Paypal your address is 123 Elm St. Anytown, NY and they send a card to verify your address at that location. In the mean time you get a forwarding card at the post office that forwards John Smith's mail from 123 Elm St. Anytown, NY to PO Box 453 Philadelphia PA. Paypal has no idea their confirmation has been forwarded, you have successfully created a false identity on Paypal. I am not telling you any secrets, these are well documented security flaws that are too expensive to resolve.
Matt, Unfortunately what you are saying is incorrect. Post #81 as well as #97. And there is no such thing as "DNS router spoof". There is "DNS spoofing", but that is something completely different. We are talking IP addresses here and not domain names. Good luck on the test with Mark. Looking forward to the results.

There is no cost effective solution at this time. The financial industry has not found a cure, how is F-Chat suppose to? I'm afraid at this time the bad guys with the ability and desire to circumvent the precautions in place can win the battle whenever they choose. Internet security is reactionary, until that changes the bad guys are one step ahead.
As I told you when you sent this to me via a PM, he has a dillusion I am this Nick person he hates and says he almost beat up. My parents are old and have worsening eye sight, the soultion was the Text Sizing option on their browser. How can you read the other posts? Why is the capitalization necessary only for the posts he writes and not the ones he reads?
So, does this mean that all of his posts have been deleted as well? Is it as is he has never been here? What about threads started by him, are they gone as well?
You asked for the impossible and when no one can deliver it you blame them? Since you want added value, give us your solution please.
Is this really an issue for you...? The text on his browser and all over his computer is enlarged to suit his vision... But the text that one types into the text box to make a post is one, standard size... There's no control over that... So he types in caps so he can see what he's doing and not have to put his eyeball on the screen, scrutinizing and editing for a half hour before each post... Please drop the caps issue; it will only get worse if you keep going... Seriously, i'm being sincere; just drop it...
I am not a paying member yet - but if that is the price to pay to keep this site fun for all of us, yes of course I am willing to pay it!!!
