http://www.qv500.com/ferrari348p8.php This will provide you with some info on the LM. Ed at FOA is very gracious when it comes to taking passengers out at the local events, so I was able to ride around Roebling Road in his. These are full race cars, lots of cam-at least it sounds and feels that way-much more radical than a Challenge car. If only I could drive it to the track...Now, is Ed's a full LM? It appears so to me.
David, Ed Wettach's 348 is a genuine 348 Comp, originally sold to a good friend of mine in north Georgia who also owned a street 348 (and who goes back to the '60s with Ferraris). He used it for a few track days at Road Atlanta, and eventually sold it to FoA. O.G.
I spoke with the dealer who is selling this car. It is a Eurocar, and is not street legal. They are claiming that it is a real GTC/LM. However, according to the book, Original Ferrari V8 the chassis # on this car doesn't match any of the originals listed. They also said that they wanted $150K for it. Way too high. Thee is some really cool stuff out there for that $$.
FYI, the odometer is in KM, NOT miles. Also, the car has all the paperwork with it, so if you know your Italian and want to know its history, FOD can tell you.
Guys you are all welcome to take a look at the history and books that were provided to us by the owner of this vehicle that we are consigning. We have the original Italian title and all. Please make an appointment with me and I will be glad to show you!!! Oh and by the way there were 56 originals made and 4 were Targas. Thanks Enver at Boardwalk Ferrari.
Seeing as someone bumped this, prove the additional six please. I have no info on that, and afaik all official factory GT Competizione street cars are hardtops. Not TS. Seeing as my s/wheel says 36/50, what did it say on the extra six? I'd love someone to prove the existence of these so called additional six by posting the chassis numbers. As far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as a Targa GTC. Just because the factory had a few bits left over and Michelotto made a couple of specials for a collector or two doesn't make them GTC's. Until someone can disprove this with cold hard facts, there are 50 street GTC's and they are all hardtops.
Sorry to bump an old thread. From my understanding, Michelotto did the work on all the competizione cars (street and track) and an Italian collector fronted the money for him to create his own GTC to his specific specs. As said earlier, this car is 1 of 2 Michelotto-built TS competizione-spec cars. The differences in seats, steering wheel, etc are obviously upgrades-- for example, the wheel is suede (vs. stock leather), and the seats are 1 piece carbon/kevlar units to fit the original owner's small stature (the driver seat is quite narrow), and in my opinion, are higher quality seats. I think the situation is very similar to private owners commissioning ferrari to build one-offs (p4/5, 456gt estate...), though on a much lower financial scale. The car is quite legitimate, the paperwork is there and the owner has verified the history. The competizione street cars are simply 348's modified by Michelotto at the production stage, and so was this car, but the original owner paid more money to get the car specified for his personal taste.
This car or another Compitizione? I have seen Ed's on the track and at his shop. He says that is his favorite car to drive on the track. Also, did you see the one sell at Amelia this year for I think 84K? This was one of the orginal ones built from what I understood, with only 2600 KM.

Went through the process of this car this week...as it is sitting in NEw Mexico....but it was confirmed by the factory today this car is NOT a Michelotto car. FAKE ! Bushwhacker, was great talking via PM and thanks for the offers and sharing the details of this car on the other thread. Someone should make sure this car does not hit the 348gtc registry as legit, because it is not.
This is NOT a michelotto car, I repeat, NOT ... We called them today, and they verbally confirmed this car (VIN) never went through their factory.
You should double check before you post. Check 348 gtc race chasis numbers, this car is on the registry. They still have this car listed on the site, and it should not be ... as its a FAKE.
I sent them an email last Thursday to advise them, but the car is still listed. Might be good for others to email them as well.
I have the email of the guys that used to update it (I own a GTC) Not sure it has been for some time though. I will follow them up to see what is happening and if anyone is looking after the site.
That's great, it's a service to the community. Where did get your gtc ? I'm looking for one if available. Thanks
