    Job??

Yeah, I bet if you were to interview all the unemployed homeless immigrants in melbourne, he'd be the only one that gets to drive these cars with the owners permission!!

I think you're too late Gil, but there's a yellow one on their books too.....

It wasn't sold last week; but who knows. MC was supposedly going to give you a call about it Gil.

The yellow car was sold ages ago Phil. That is unless it has come back to the market since.

Funny how MM makes these extremely rare and valuable cars seem as common as......... :)

Well, all I know is that Piva's ACEMCO 360 GT is now for sale again... and he was drooling over the 333.

and the yellow 333 info was all over the area of Marks desk that gets his attention!!

Oh wonderful, ANOTHER 360 GT for sale :(

The yellow car may be back in play (yet) again then. Last I heard it was sold to a new owner who hadn't got around to driving it. The car was still brand new at that stage and one of the last built from memory.

Simonsen only did 3 laps in each car - just enough to get everything warm. He did the 3 in the 333SP, then hopped into the 550 and took a passenger around the circuit. The first lap in the 333SP was just wheelspin everywhere, as you can see from the video - the dust had yet to be cleared off the green 'track' (which only gets used once a year during the Clipsal 500, and the start straight of the Prologue configuration never gets used at all). After he had done the runs he stood around for ages before they instructed him to drive one of the racecars back to Victoria Square, with the female news reporter hitching a ride back in the 550 GTC. :)
I spoke to him briefly about what series he has raced in, what he plans on doing in the future, etc. Pretty much the standard route of karting --> every junior open-wheel catagory you can think of (F3 / F3000, etc)--> British GT / FIA GT / Aussie GT / V8 Supercars, etc. He said he raced in 5 different catagories this year, and is currently living in Melbourne.

I'm not sure why, but the F50 never did any Prologue laps. As you can see from my photos it was there, and I had a chat with the American guy (from Detroit) who said he would be driving it, but it left without any laps done.

I was so preoccupied at the front of the cars and crowd helping the Stage Commander, I didn't really see what happened once the cars left the circuit. I presume they went off for lunch or some other social function - that was originally what I had planned on doing until I got sucked into helping run the Prologue!

As for the 288 GTO, it hadn't been driven properly for ages, like all the other cars which were unloaded from containers. Some of the cars had to be jump started, and others took ages to fire up. So it's not surprising it wasn't running perfectly. When we went to drive it from the Showgrounds to the display in Victoria Park on Sunday, the clutch went right to the floor. After much fussing around, it turned out they have a porous clutch system that lets air in, requiring bleeding every few weeks. That's an indication of it not having seen much use for a while (either due to transit, or owner behavior.) It sounded okay doing the Prologue laps.

The XJ220 was the worst example of a garage queen - it felt terrible to drive and nothing was working smoothly as it would have been if actually driven. It also sounded "like a cement mixer" as one person put it. ;)

I'll have a talk to MC about it, when he gets back. For me, it has to be red,
it's a traditional thing and I'm with you, sometimes I wish MM would just take it easy with all the exotics coming into the country. I mean how many F40LM's do you really need in Australia.

I believe the 288's have a porous bell housing or something? No doubt Phil has some idea on that score.
Garage Queens are nice and pretty; but they invariably have problems. It took quite a bit of time and $$ to get the F50 to where it should have been.

XJ220's are reputedly just horrible cars. A garage Queen 220 could only be worse.

No way. maybe that one does, but "they" (288's) dont.

The Fox car is a garage queen too.. and has no such problem.

Well Michael Sheehan and others have indicated that it is a 288 flaw.
So I reckon it's a fair bet that "they" DO have a problem in that area.

Shearman's spyder conversion was advertised by MM this month for $440k if anyone desires a convertible Bedford truck. I must say, that it does look very nice.

There have been 1000's of 360's with clutch failure, but "they" don't get tagged with clutch faults.

Just because a few very rare cars get a fault after sitting around a while, doesn't mean they all should be tarred with same brush.

Each car is an individual.. especially mega cars like 288 etc.

Besides, I wont hear a word said against 288... they're PERFECT.

I WOULD tag the 360's as having clutch (and other) faults.
Fair point on a car that only had 272 examples made though. How many failures before it is a flaw with the model?

I love 288's as well. If I sold the 360 N-GT, I would probably be on the lookout for one. Either that or F40 GTE's 74045 or 90001.

288's have a magnesium clutch housing which has a reputation for being porous. I have a service bulletin somewhere that suggests replacement with an F40 one.

    Regards,

    Carl.

oh i'm sorry they paid (cos i asked the question) 390000 pounds and at 2.45 exchange rate = $955500.00 aust would u like a calculator?

having been in the car and spent the last couple of days and nights with these jokers they are pretty serious about their cars, and this thing has been garaged for the past 14 years in a museum, it went straight into the Goodwood revival, then to the Nurburgring for a few zany laps, then to aust for the classic adelaide then off to NZ and by about feb 06 it will be in california for another run, so forget what the market rates them it is what someone is prepared to pay and the golden rule is if u have the moolah then just do it, and BTW they dont like the F40 and much prefer the 288.
The car is the ducks guts and after listening to it thru the gorge and that exhaust off the cliff face, well nothing comes close---maybe the space shuttle
