    Do you think they do anything else other than just lower it? I'm pretty sure that you'd know that with lowering, on the cs for example, they also used different springs and, presumably, retrimmed shock settings. Again, it's not just a simple matter of lowering. Having said that...what the hell? I'd do it and I'm sure in real terms I'd never notice a change in grip or handling...although all the ground hitting is very offputting.

    Lower the car increases the stability substantially.



    1) Lateral body roll is reduced along with front end dipping and raising from braking and accelerating

    2) Vehicles like the 360 and the 430 with flat undercarriages gain a significantly substantial advantage when they are lowered. With the flat undercarriage being closer to the ground the air circulation is cleaner and with less turbulence than a higher car, which increases the stability and speed….then we want to look into the 430 and 360 GTs????

    Todd, call Johnny at JCM Performance, he'll not only be able to do the lowering, but will do it with the use of corner scales to make sure the balance of the car is correct. 954.771.0435, he's just north of Commercial 2 blocks or so west of 95.

    You should be able to add spacers between the steering arm and the hub to compensate for the angle in the steering arm from the lowering. Much easier than relocating the rack. I wouldn't worry too much about suspension geometery changes if you're only lowering the car .5-1 inch since that's probably well with the camber curves and other specs of the stock suspension.

    Again...I haven't bumpsteered or blue printed a F430's suspension myself so I don't know at what point the benefits of lowering are outweighed by the aligment issues it creates...but I just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in...

    Has anyone asked a true Ferrari expert about lowering an F430? All of you are strictly conjecturing. Did you check with Carobu in Costa Mesa? Or did you check directly with the factory?

    Could the ride height of a stock F430 be as it is because of bumper height regulations of various countries?

    Or could it be that Ferrari knows that most of its F430 drivers are just wealthy individuals who will likely run into parking curbs more often than not?

    If lowering the car had no effect, why is the new factory F430 GT3 race car lowered from the factory??

    Enquiring minds want to know.

    I spoke with Johnny today and am going to get it lowered and corner balanced. Thanks Jason and by the way, he states that the car will handle even better and be MORE stable. Nice to hear that. He also states the reason for the factory height has nothing to do with perfect performance height, it's simply due to ease of driving and keeping from hitting curbs, etc... The lower the car, the better downforce.

    My 430 is arriving shortly and I do not like the "off-road look". I am aware of these aerodynamic/bump steer/shock/corner weight/camber issues and I have made the ride height problem the dealer's. I have told them that I want the car to look exactly like the photo of the car in the hard cover F430 brochure page 20/21 and 58/59. I know it will scrape on 50 cent pieces but I'm used to that on my 360. I've also ordered the skid plates from Hill's. I'm still waiting for the dealer to confirm if the ride height settings and reference points are exactly the same as the 360 and the differences to the CS. Interestingly, the dealer did tell me that there is a tolerence in ride height differential between front and rear. I bit more negative camber will also be welcome
