A few weeks back I replaced all of my 308 brake hoses and while doing the front I needed to pull the lower cover to get to the connections. So under the cover is the connection of the heater hose to the main raditor hose. Has anyone just pulled this heater hose to drain the coolant instead of pulling the rad hose up front? I'm ready to do my 2yr coolant change and was wondering if this was an easier way to do it. So if I pop this hose and do the petcock on the block I would assume it will do the trick. Oh buy the way I did notice that if you drive the car with this plate off the temp runs about a needle thickness hotter. I'm speculating that somehow the air flow makes the difference. Buy still the car runs at the 1st notch and the heater puts out a ton of hot air. Thats good with temps not dipping into the 30's. Enjoy the ride

That is the best hose to use for coolant draining. After you drain the coolant go to a harware store and pick up a brass valve. There is a drain plug at the lower drivers side of the radiator that you can replace with the brass valve. I hook op a clear platic hose to the valve to drain the coolant. No mess.

I have always carried my Ferraris to a local radiator shop and had the cooling system "power flushed" for about $100. A gravity or water hose flushing of the system may drain out the old fluid itself, but it will leave most of the solids that develope over the years between flushes. You would not believe the crap that a power flush unit will get out of a cooling system...well worth a C-note IMHO.
