I've been searching for the thread that describes replacement of an accelerator cable but no luck. If someone knows this thread I'd appreciate your help. I noticed that the cable is fraying just as it passes through the adjustment/holder on the cam cover at the front of the engine. The cable is rubbing on the threads that move the adjusting bolt. Any advise would be helpful. Also where does one purchase one of these cables and are they the same for all carb 308's??? Thanks.

LHD and RHD are different I believe. Also, GT4 ones are longer.

Replacement is quite simple, but you MUST adjust full throttle correctly.. to prevent fraying and breaking. So, set it up properly adjusting the inner cable end adjustments/pedal stop and/or the cam cover adjuster to not have excessive tension at full throttle.

Availability seems hard lately, (I just tried), so I just had a local cable repairer put a new inner cable in one, as the outer was fine anyway.

Did you remove the entire cable and housing tube or could you just pull the cable out at the throttle petal? I was hoping I could fasten a wire to the old cable and pull it out then use the wire to pull the replacement cable back in without removing the whole unit. What do you think? Thanks
