just purchased FORZA magazine , issue # 65. Has the top 10 F road cars of the last 36 years. Voted on by a panel of people like, "piero ferrari", "tom tjaarda from pininfarina", "winston goodfellow" and others. Opened the first page and there was at # 10, an F50 (sorry Scott), then you have others and the #7 car is an ENZO. 6 is a 288 gto and then you have a daytona and boxer etc. So after going through about 5 pages, NO, F40 and I thought, "you've got to be joking". Anyway, after getting a bit upset and a bit nervous, I opened up to the next page and there she was. The No. 1, all time best ferrari road car of the last 36 years...............the F40.
Sorry everyone, couldn't help myself. (here's the list).

    10. F50
    9. 360 MODENA
    8. 550 MARANELLO
    7. ENZO
    6. 288 GTO (sorry DW)
    5. 246 DINO
    4. DAYTONA
    3. BOXER (I'm happy)
    2. 308 (I'm happy)
    1. F40 (I'm very happy)

ps. Poor old 355 didn't get a mention.

    No doubt about No.1

In my opinion the 355 deserves a place in front of the 360.

In a straight performance contest the 360 wins. However for looks, sound and performance (for it’s day) the 355 edges out the 360.

    However I could be biased!!

Fortunately I buy the cars that appeal to me, rather than the ones that somebody TELLS me should appeal to me. To me, the cars that should be in the top 10 "greatest" of all time should be models that have done something to advance the marque, or the automobile in general. In that light, what do the 360, 550, Boxer and Daytona offer up? Where are the great and iconic models of the past? The 250 SWB, the 275 GTB, The 250 SWB California etc etc are nowhere to be seen.
FWIW, I personally don't believe Ferrari has done anything truly ground breaking for a LONG while. Wonderful cars (and I buy some of 'em); but nothing ground breaking.

maybe you're just too young to remember what a truly significant car the Boxer was. Although the Daytona was very fast in its day, it was just an evolution...the boxer was amazing.

I love mine, and I was young when I bought it... 28.

How many other young people like BB? I must be a bit weird. A bit like my taste in music too I guess... same era mostly.

I really hate the fact that PP likes BB.

True, BB chassis are not that flash, but the carb engine is sublime (and the Injected is not bad either)..... Scott, drive one, you might like it.

Good list - I think the 308 belongs there because it's about the most iconic modern car after the Porsche 911. I might've put the Testarossa ahead of the 360, just because it's so distinctive.

Saw a black '77 Boxer today - simply gorgeous and menacing, even when parked. The design is definitely of an age, but has classic written all over it.

    youre probably right,

as i said further up, i dont get the deal with the boxer,

just looks like an awkward 308 to me.

and a Diablo looks like an awkward dust buster, but you like those..??

You need to get a go in a BB mate.... seriously, you're in need of education

yeah, theres not too many floating around Perth :)

I was however not aware that it was a revolutionary car for its time, as stated by someone further up, I just thaught it was the TR of its day.

Part 2, was my list. Part 2 is the last 36 years and they do go into pivotal points in time for certain cars. The boxer's release was a very pivotal point in time for Ferrari and I remember seeing my first boxer, it was like seeing star wars for the first time. That front bonnet is still one of the great car bonnets of all time. And you'd have to say that the shape of the 308, when that was released was a pivotal point as well. (well that's my story and I'm sticking to it).

John, remember when you first saw a 308 and the impression of that moment. I mean a 288 gto is just a 308 slightly changed. And an F40 has 308 bits on it anyway. The cam seals and cam bealts are the same as a 308 etc. etc. etc. I think the 308 was a very pivotal point in time in automotive history and Ferrari. And that's what this article is about. having said that, I don't know why the 355 missed out. That was a very important model. Didn't it save FERRARI.???? the 348 certainly didn't.

When you see a boxer coming at you on the open road, it's a truly amazing looking car. That front bonnet is awesome. A great looking car. (i still love the boxers)

    Great analogy!
FWIW, BB is the only thing that blips on my 'dream' radar outside of the real supercars (F40,50 etc)
