I need some technical advise on what is the best way to lower a 1985 308 GTS QV as you know on these 308’s the space between the top of the wheel-well finder and top of the tire has major space. Also the car seems to look as its riding high and lowering the car a minimal 1 inch will make the car look and handle better. Currently my car has its all original suspension parts and what ever parts I replace I will keep the original parts for the car. I’m asking for a cheap but a very easy way on how to do this task if possible.

    Thx
    Rob

search "suspension upgrade" and see waht Mike Charness did with his. It is the best daily use modification I have seen around here.

Just order 4 of Nicks Forza Ajustable shocks (300lbs front and 250lbs rear) and that will do it.

    Nothing more to it.

Steve Magnusson also has a thread on having custom machined spring perches that lower the car...retaining all the stock components (springs, shocks).

I bought mine 4 years ago and can't remember the price but give Nick a call (he is an FC Sponsor).

Car rides and handles great.............Steve also put a set on his car last year i believe (I gave him wrong spring rates which screwed him up a bit)

My spring rates posted before are the correct ratings.

(Said in good humor) And i KNOW where to send the bill for the extra labor for supplying wrong spring rates as well ;)

    BLACK HORSE:
Yes i, too, have the shocks and yes 300 lbs front and 250 lbs rear are good for street and basic track. If you want the car VERY low for racing, ask Nick for springs 1-inch lower than he normally supplied, but this is ONLY if you are driving on smooth track and looking to get the car INSANE low. You could also go with higher spring rates but thjis may be for TRACK ONLY use.

Normal guys should go with Nick's stock setup. As for price, around $1,600 or so complete i think. Call Nick :)

As for how the STOCK setup shocks have been over the past year for both road and track use... They work great and love the ability to adjust not only height to lower the car and tune corner weight, but also the very usable dampening adjustments. One hour the car is nice and comfy for the pothole-riddled New England roadways, then i jack the car up at the track and make adjustments and she is stiff as h#ll for the track PLUS i can tune it at the track accordingly for best lap times.

Note i hinted above about shorter (and maybe stiffer) springs, DO NOT DO IT unless you are insane like me and want the car SERIOUSLY LOW as to ALMOST bottom the car out at the track. Nick's stock springs will get the car low and i'd guess in stock seats your butt will be about 6 inches from the tarmac. Am debating going what i'd guess to be 4.5 inches for the car here. As a reference, that means the front deep euro aero will be about 2.75 inches off the ground.

Be smart, go Nick stock is my suggestion... unless...

QV London (they've been referenced around here on Fchat) has a set of spings available, but they're something like $700 US shipped. Keeps you a little closer to stock than the other options that involve clearancing your suspension components, but not the most cost effective!

I did the "Mike Charness" thing and went with Chris Alston's Varishocks
(www.varishock.com) and Varishock/QA-1 springs. You can raise/lower the bottom spring perch and set the ride height where you want it.

basicly same concept as Nicks Forza Shocks....you ajust height by raising or lowering lower spring perch.

I note forza says 308 and "early" 328's. Does this mean that 89 ABS 328 is not catered for with these height adjustable shocks ? if so what are the alternatives for the later 328's ?
