Just out of curiosity is anybody interested in doing a charity run for kids Christmas gifts. I realize many people are just flat "given out" when it comes to this subject, taking into account the recent events in our area. But we might be able to coordinate with one of the Marine collection places or perhaps Channel 4 who did a collection last year. What do you think? Do a good deed, make some kiddoe happy and then go quaff a few brewskis and tell flamboyant stories about Lord knows what.

I'd be in for helping out, in my Supra though, not an Fcar. Only thing is it depends on when in December because I am sitting her down for a stroker motor in a couple of weeks.

    Regards,

Interestingly enough I had made this suggestion earlier but obviously didn't follow thru. We would definitely be interested depending on the day of course. Toys for Tots is a great thing - We went to the last night at the Appaloosa World Show and "admission" as it were for the FreeStyle Reining was a new toy or cash donation at the Tots For Tots entrance "manned" by the local Marines. Very worthwhile endeavor.

If you don't mind, we'd be glad to pass info along to our MB group and see what kind of "joint" support we might garner. It appears at this time that our "presence" at such an event would be in a MB of one flavor or another sitting in the shop. Sophia is at Norwoods for a little "tweaking" at present.

Keep us posted, via here, email or cell phone so we can coordinate this event - heck even if there's just a couple of us that's better than no event at all. Last day of school is the 16th for me. Hopefully we can coordinate a mutually convenient date.

    Just a thought:

Last year Jano and I participated in the CowTown Mopars car show and toy drive at Huffines Dodge in Lewisville. It's open to all makes, and this year is actually going to be two car shows, one in the morning in Lewisville and one in the afternoon at Billy Bob's on Dec 10.

It may be easier at short notice to piggyback on an existing run like this.

I'm up to make a donation at the Billy Bob's meet. Thanks for posting the link, Tillman.

We brought toys and hung out at the car show for a couple of hours. When the show was over some people took the toys to Ft. Worth -- we didn't go along at that point.

Looks like this year they're taking the the show on the road for a second show.

I have a couple of clients that are in the radio/TV industry. I am going to to contact them and see if we can get a little coverage. Maybe have one of them ride with someone. But we will need 10 to 15 cars to make it look acceptable. ANY CARS!!! What my initial inclination is; to meet somewhere-perhaps Valley View Mall Parking lot, then we cruise to the drop off spot (salvation army, channel 4 whatever--I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS) gladhand a little and then head to Humperdinks or someother oasis, drop some money in their establishment, pat ourselves on the back and then go our seperate ways. What do you folks think??????

The past few years in New Orleans our local gang has organized a small 'Toy Run' at a local ToysRus.

Basically everyone would simply meet at Toys R Us a few days before Christmas under police escort(heh heh), everyone goes in and purchases what they want to donate, then we all drive to a local orphanage and 'surprise' all of the kids with the gifts. Seeing the looks on their faces is the best part BY FAR.

It's great when everyone arrives at the Orphanage and the kids crawl ALL over the cars 'ohhing' and 'ahhing' over "Santa's" red sleighs :)

Sounds like a good idea. Should we have Rob or Tillman send and email out to the FCA-DFW list? I think we need to contact radio/TV land asap to schedule this and get a crew alocated for coverage. To do that, we need to set the date and know that we have enough cars.

    F-CARS etc.:

    1. Don - 2 ? Assuming you and Carolyn will each bring one if needed.
    2. Martin - 2
    3. Tillman - 1 (78% confirmed)
    4. Brian - 1
    5. Dave - 1
    6. Dusty - 1 Supra
    7. Carol -1 ?
    8. Ricky -1? Bimmer
    9. George - 1 nonfcar?
    10. Jano - 1

TOTAL: Assuming everyone above is def. In.... 12

Depending on the schedule, I might be able to make this. My car is not an exotic but I wouldn't mind parading it if you guys don't mind it either.

Manny, look at my second post, _ALL CARS_. This is just a for fun run to do a good deal for some kids, besides how can we quaff any beers without your presence?

I'll try to make it, but will have to see how things look when it's scheduled. I'm a little confused as to why we need 'coverage'? Who cares?

Coverare makes no difference, I was just going to see if we could get our mugs and cars on the TV or the radio--some of us have the perfect mugs for radio!! I am looking at either the 10th or the 17th. Tillman pointed out that there is a run on the 10th which drops off gifts at Huffhines in Lewisville and then ventures to Ft. Worth. If some wish to participate in that one, then we can move to the 17th. I don't think Channel 4 is going to do the drop off, like they did last year. So I am leaning toward the Salvation Army which would be happy to accept anything. Any input??????
