The president of our company picked up a brand new Carrera GT over the summer in black. Car has been sitting mostly. I think it has about 400 miles on it now. Gorgeous car in black.

Among enthusiasts, the CGT is a huge favorite. It is a supercar.

But in general, the CGT gets about a 5% response rate of a lamborghini. A lambo reeks exotic and when people see the word "Lamborghini" they go crazy over it. It is the bad boy car. I am sure 90% of the people that drool over the lambo dont even know what kind of lambo it is.

Also if you have a CGT and someone pulls up at the light or at the gas station and asks you what it costs, don't bother telling them. Nobody will believe you anyways.

The CGT is to be driven for your own personal enjoyment. If you have a Ferrari or Lambo and are ready for something out of this world that is where the CGT comes in.

I've had the Lambo's and Ferrari's already. Something like 52 cars have passed through my hands. I don't car about the "look at me" factor. I have always loved the porsches, but they have lost their edge and become mainstream until now.

The wheel and shifter were dealer installed. The location of the shifter is just a few inches to the right of the wheel, which as mentioned, keeps ones hands where they belong.

I have two tone black and brown interior, which I had not seen in person until the car was delivered.

I have not been asked how much it cost, I don't answer questions about money. I usually answer "almost cost me my family, because I worked like a dog for years to be able to afford one" ...the best things in life are not things. ( I am a survivor as well, so each year I spend with my children and wonderful unselfish wife are precious).

A friend is going to come out and photo the car, and do a first impressions writeup for a website. I'll post his pics when he does.

I havent checked, I know the tires are a strange dual compound item, where would one find them? Tire-rack?

Is PSM (Porsche Stability Management) available as an option on the CGT? Also, does it have the same warranty as the other mass produced Porsches (4/50k)??

No PSM, just ABD (active brake differential) and an LSD. ABS of course. The natural balance of the car should hopefully be enough!

The CGT has traction control, but no PSM. I NEVER turn the traction control off on the street, but at the track it's a hoot and a holler with it off!!

OK Ok, gotta ask. Did you keep the first one or do you have two??
Either way, does not seem fair.;)
I like the black better than silver too, but would love to have either.

for what its worth, i knew 2 people through a mutual friend, who both owned a cgt. they ended up getting rid of them after 6 months or so because of the uncomfortable ride. however, both of them practically used the cars as daily drivers [driving short distances], so in that regards, i imagine thats why they got rid of them. they both ended up getting f-cars, one a 360, the other a 430. unfortunately i never got to ride/drive the cgt, but from what i hear its an amazing car in every aspect. i suppose using them as a daily driver is another thing...

That is the thing the 430 is the perfect exotic if you want to use it as a car you drive a lot take road trips and even have as a daily driver . The CGT is such a true race car that I think would be hard to use as an everyday car or for road trips as there is no trunk space . It is just too bad that you need to pay 100K over sticker for the spider .

Andrew, not to seem cynical, but since I knew that I was getting a very early car, I ordered it in what I thought would be the easiest configuration to resell. I thought that premiums for the car would be short-lived and that I could act fast, get the premium, and average down my cost on the car color and options I really wanted. So now I only own one.

I own a Porsche and was at the dealership this weekend. They had a gray CGT and they let me sit in it and we started it up. I really have not been that impressed with the car. It seems like it is missing something? Although I did not get to drive it on looks alone I would go with the 430. The new 911's are great cars, you could buy a 911 and a 430 for the price of the CGT.

You have to understand this is not something you can determine by sitting in the car or looking at it. I'm a 430 owner, and I love the car, but I acknowledge the CGT is another league entirely when it comes to performance, especially above 100 mph. If that kind of performance is not important to you, you will never see the value in the CGT.
